PROM?
Somewhere deep in the Valley, May 1984.
KK2"OKAY..WHEN YOU SAY FAR, HOW FAR...?" Jennifer tilted her head as she attempted to finish her homework in the mess that was Daniel Larusso's car. Sure, he had an excuse, having an actual job didn't leave him with much time anymore - his spare uniform was sprawled out in the backseat along with many of his girlfriends cassettes that she always wished for him to play.
"Not too far. Not far at all." Daniel spoke quickly, his eyes scanning the road before proceeding to drive. He had just got out of work, wearing the kind of hats they make you wear as an employee at a burger joint - and wow, he smelled like fries.
His uniform was white, and he attempted to run his hands through his messy hair to fix it, but it stayed the same.
He had rushed Jenny out of her room just 10 minutes ago, where she was studying for her final tests. Even after being accepted to Berkeley, she had still been an overachiever on her last assignments of high school.
With his new job - spending time with Mr. Miyagi, Lucille, and Jenny all whilst juggling the end of school, Daniel Larusso was truly left with almost no time. Still, he cleared these hours on a Friday night after his afternoon shift, to make sure he did one thing perfectly.
Ask Jennifer to prom.
Jenny's absolute favorite place to be in Los Angeles was her favorite diner just off of sunset, Clark's. It was small, intimate - but most of all they played the greatest music, and had a photobooth.
She brought Daniel once around her birthday, and that was it. They took photos and still, Daniel kept them taped up in his room, which had already been filled with pictures of his girlfriend.
His bright yellow car skidded to a stop in front of the diner, lights shining through the vicinity as he parked and he sighed, glancing over to Jenny. He took his backpack from school, switching from his work button up to his favorite dress shirt, and he then glanced around before quickly changing into his jeans from his white slacks.
Jennifer sighed at the sight. Even though the roof was on, and the windows were slightly tilted - Daniel was too used to doing this before going out with her, but once he finished - the two got out and Jennifer glanced over - her eyebrow quirked.
"Clark's?"
"Only the best for the best." Daniel grinned, shutting his door and walking over. His hand quickly found Jenny's and clung onto it as they walked inside. Here, it was buzzing with couples that used this as their date spot, and Daniel's eyes searched the vicinity until they met a certain waiter's.
His eyes lit up, and he gave a short nod, earning one back before he pulled Jennifer along to the very back, right next to the Photo Booth. They sat in a booth themselves, across from one another and Daniel looked at the menu, quickly setting it down.
"What are you getting?"
"The same as always." Jennifer answered, doing the same with her menu and he sighed in relief - a faint smile as they watched the waiter come over.
As they ordered, Daniel nervously glanced around until the waiter walked away, and his leg bounced up and down as he waited for his cue.
Jennifer also loved the Thompson Twins, so when her favorite song from them played - she smiled - pointing up and glancing to Daniel who scrambled in his seat. "One sec."
He made his way around the diner, hands propped up on the counter as he spoke to Dal, the waiter he paid 30 bucks to help him as Jenny out to prom.
"You got it?" Daniel asked, his eyes following Dal as he walked alongside the counters - serving people.
"All of it in the back - here." Dal set down two plates and waved Daniel over, in the back was where Daniel stored his flowers for Jennifer, and they had just finished her burger, leaving Daniel to splatter ketchup over it that spelled out the words Prom.
"Okay, here." He handed the plate to Dal, and grabbed the huge bouquet of roses and carnations to have for Jenny. He was a little worried that some ketchup words on a plate wouldn't do much - but at the sight of her plate, Jennifer's resting face immediately turned into a smile.
Playing a song she loved, making sure they got the very table she loved and most of all - spending an hour before work to make her a bouquet of her favorite flowers and drop it off here - Daniel was still pretty proud. As Dal moved out of the way - leaving to serve other tables, Daniel stepped forward and kneeled beside Jennifer who looked from her plate to Daniel.
He was waiting for her answer, a nervous grin on his face before Jennifer leaned forward - placing a soft kiss on his lips and nodding. "You don't have to do all of this." She spoke, her hand on her heart.
"Of course I do." He responded, his smile growing and Jennifer studied the flowers for a minute before he handed them over - pressing another kiss to her lips. This time, her arms hung around his neck - even when he reeked of french fries, she loved being this close.
"Yes, 100 percent yes." She smiled as they pulled away, giggling a bit in the midst of her answer and Daniel's cheeks rose a shade of pink before his eyes searched hers lovingly.
He was proud to hear that. He was proud to know he'd be taking this girl, that was everything she was, to prom. He cupped her face before once again pressing a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth and she laughed as he pulled away. "Perfect." He whispered, his voice low.
