"IT WAS JUST A KISS" I tell Mae, trying to make her believe me, even if I didn't believe it myself. "it looked very intimate to me" she argues.
"it was just in the heat of the moment" I defend "wasn't that, the third time. so you kissed three times, in the heat of the moment?" she questions.
"the third time that you know of yeah" I whisper to myself "you've kissed more than three times?" Mae loudly says, almost yelling which would get the whole house curious about our conversation.
"yes, we've kissed like ten times maybe. It's nothing, really" I plead, I didn't want her to find out about our other seven times like this.
"have you kissed him ten separate days, or ten times in the three days I know of?" Mae asks "ten separate days" I slowly let the words out my mouth, hoping they'll come out better if I say it slow.
"ten days! that's actually outrageous" she yells "be quiet, please" I beg her, not wanting the others to hear. Sophia and Jude would bully us and jobe doesn't have to know we're talking about him.
"okay, okay. I just wish you would've told me, about all of this. If I knew you were in love with him I wouldn't have reacted the way I did" Mae says softly.
"I'm not in love with him Mae" I roll my eyes at the thought, she just gives me a knowing look before talking again "I think you should ask him out"
"no way, I'm not asking a man out" I'm disgusted at the thought, really I just have a fear of rejection. "okay, I'll tell him to ask you out" she stands up.
"no! don't talk to him about this" I plead again, he was the last person that should know about this conversation. "fine. I still think you should date, just don't do anything in front of me" she walks out the room.
we had gone into jobe's room to talk, the others were making breakfast while we said we'd go to change our clothes.
