Pulling the car into my usual parking space, I turn off the engine of my car, releasing a long breath.
Removing the keys and picking up my backpack from the passenger seat, I lift my head to see Ethan pack his bike few steps away from me.
I picked this spot to annoy him, I've done a lot of things just to piss him so avoiding him would be pretty harder than I thought.
I watch in silence as he removes his helmet and shakes his head before running his finger through his dirty blonde hair.
Wait—is that his natural hair color or is it dyed?
I pull my gaze away from his enticing body and face, opening my car door and walking to the entrance of the school.
I see him walk to the other side of the school, away from me, and I sigh heavily.
This is way harder than I thought.
I grip my backpack higher on one arm, regretting not wearing my school jacket when the wind hits me.
A tap on my shoulder has me turning back to look at whoever it was only to hold it a breath when I find Channel staring at me with teary eyes.
"What's wrong?" I ask, stepping closer to her, my eyes falling on the bruise on her neck before she pulls her collar higher to cover it.
"You said I can talk to you whenever I want right?" she asks with trembling lips, looking around to make sure no one was staring at her.
"Yes sure, what's wrong?" I repeat, cautious of how she seemed to flinch whenever I lean closer to her.
"Follow me." she commands dryly, walking to a pink Camry with tinted windows that was parked at the far end of the parking lot.
She unlocks the car, making me seat in the passenger seat while she crosses over to the backseat.
I dart my eyes around the car, noticing how it still has a new car scent.
"You have a nice car." I hurt out and she nods, biting her bottom lips, blue eyes filled with horror.
"Thank you." she replies. "My step father got it for me as an apology."
A car for an apology. Crazy shit.
"Oh." I nod in understanding, shifting my body so I can see her when I felt her move. "Hey hey hey, what are you doing?"
She pauses for a second before continuing her actions which involves sliding the sweater off her small frame, leaving her only in our school shirt. When I thought it was over, she grips the edge of her shirt, pulling it up her body.
"Channel if you don't know, I'm straig—"
The words dies at the back of my throat when I see her body.
Oh no.
Different bruises littered around her body, bright red marks, some fading and some looking like it's new.
