Will was now at home as school had ended. El was round at Max's house and Jonathan and his mother were both working which just left him alone at home. He was debating whether to call Mike but he decided not to, knowing Mike was busy tonight with his new job. He sat down and turned on the TV.

"There has been some new news on the murders of Chrissy Cunningham and Jason Carver, there w-" The reporter was cut off by Will flicking to another channel.

"In a few days it'll be a year since the murder of Lonnie Byers, a local resident, a husband and a beloved father of three children." A woman from tv spoke, Will tensing up as he heard this. "The people of hawkins are terrified, wondering if the murder of Lonnie and the most recent murders are connected to each other. Is there a possible serial killer on the loose?" The woman continued.

Will stared at the TV, frozen as he listened to the words coming out of the woman's mouth. He was snapped out of his trance when the phone rung. He got up and walked over to it, picking it up and beginning to speak.

"Hello?" He spoke quietly.

"Hi, can I come over? I'm so bored, man." Mike asked.

"You aren't meant to call your boyfriend man, Michael." Will laughed softly.

"Whatever." Mike chuckled, his voice soft. "Can I come over? Nobody's home tonight and it's creeping me the fuck out." Mike repeated his question.

"Of course, just climb through my window because my neighbours have started alerting my mum whenever they see you around. They really don't like you." Will told him.

"I will, I'll see you soon." Mike grinned.

"Bye." Will smiled, hanging up the phone and sitting down on the couch.

As soon as he sat back down the phone immediately began ringing again, Will letting out a small annoyed groan and getting up.

"Mike, just leave the house-" Will began.

"Mike?" A weird voice spoke down the phone. "I'm not Mike." They frowned.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were my boyf- best friend. . . Um, who is this?" Will apologized.

"I'm looking for your sister. Is she there?" They asked.

"Oh, um, I'm sorry nobody's home right now. It's just me." Will frowned.

"Why are you home alone? Surely it isn't safe." They frowned

"I know. My mum and my brother are working and my sister is at her best friends house so I've been left alone. I won't be alone soon though, my boyfriend is coming round." Will smiled.

"Boyfriend?" They repeated.

"Did I- Did I say boyfriend? Oh, I meant best friend! Sorry, words, letters. . . I get them mixed up." Will laughed nervously, knowing if this was one of the boys at school he'd probably get a punch in the face tomorrow.

"Oh, that's okay." They smiled.

"Um, sorry, who is this. . ?" Will asked as he realized he was just talking to some random guy who had called.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm a boy from school. I have a project with your sister and I was meant to call her and see when she could work on it." The boy told him.

"Oh! Sorry. I could give you her friends number and you could call her now?" Will frowned, now feeling slightly bad.

"No, that's okay." The man smiled.

"Oh. Um, okay." Will frowned.

It all went silent for a minute, Will growing very uncomfortable as he heard the breathing of the boy on the other line.

"Um, I'm- I'm gonna go. . . Maybe call again tomorrow, okay?" He frowned, now sounding slightly nervous.

"No, don't go." The boy frowned.

"I'm sorry, I'm gonna-" Will went to speak.

"DON'T HANG UP THE PHONE." They spoke angrily, Will flinching and becoming even more scared. "You don't wanna have the same fate as your father, do you?" They snapped.

"Don't talk about my dad like that. He- He was a good person." Will frowned, becoming slightly teary eyed.

"I'll talk about your father however I want to. Now, do you want to have the same fate as him or not?" They snapped.

"No. . ." Will frowned.

"Then I suggest you shut the fuck up and listen to me." They spat.

"What is that meant to mean?" Will asked.

"It means that you aren't safe, Will." They told him, Wills heart dropping.

"Wh- What do you mean?" He stammered.

"I mean YOU AREN'T SAFE." They yelled. "I have a question for you. You get it right, I leave you alone. You get it wrong, you die." They told him.

"WHAT?" Will shrieked, now genuinely horrified.

"What door am I currently at? Am I at your back door or your porch?" He grinned.

Will paused, looking at his back door then his porch. He saw that nobody was out there so he walked towards it, peering out and seeing nobody there.

"You aren't here. Stop trying to scare me." He scowled.

"Oh yeah?" The man giggled.

"Yeah." Will snapped, unlocking his front door and walking out onto his front porch. "Where are you? I don't see you!" He scoffed.

The man stayed silent, Will scoffing and rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, weirdo. Don't call back here. I'm warning El about you, freak." He snapped, storming inside of the houe.

As he shut the front door and locked it he heard a small noise come from the cupboards besides the front door. He paused as he heard this, now looking a bit more scared.
