Frostallion arrives at the eagle statue infront of the temple on the Plateau of New Beginnings. Remington is digging a six foot hole.
"Frost, Frostallion, frost," Yukiuma says gently laying Sally on the ground.
"I don't understand pal, but thank you," Remington says clenching his fists.
"Frostallion, frost?" Yukiuma replies.
"I always bury her here, and then I wait, I wait for her to return so I can lose her again, it's a hell I've not been free of for some time, but she was different this time, she remembered me, and she loved me still, over a thousand cycles and she still loves me."
Remington rolls Sally's body into the hole and shovels dirt onto it. Yukiuma stands beside him lowering her head onto his shoulder and snorts sadly. Remington runs his hand over her long snout slowly.
"To have loved and lost, or not to have known love at all, I'm not sure which is worse," Remington says as gentle tears roll down his cheeks.
*Back on Mount Obsidian
"Jessica, where did you go Jessica!" I yell.
"Jessica, Moon is worried, where are you Jessica!" Moon yells.
"She's not going to come out if you guys keep yelling at her," Minx says staring at her paws condescendingly.
"Minx, where is Rapido?" I ask.
"Ugh, that little noodle, slipped through my grasp just as I was about to, never mind that, you and Moon break up yet?" Minx replies.
I grab Minx's wrist and pull her away from the Caldera as Moon floats over to me. If Jessica is hiding it's probably in the same place I found her the first time, I'll have to find Rapido later.
The field of magma has flowed over except for a shallow cavern. I step in and the air feels cool inside. To my relief Rapido is curled up against Jessica trying to comfort her. I step closer and Minx grabs my shoulder.
"Moradobushi, are you sure about this?" She asks scanning the area.
I look around and it's not a shallow cavern, it's a massive cave filled with Jetdragon. I'm not sure even a Bushi of my caliber could handle all of them. I'm not here to fight though. I'm here for my friends.
"Morado, what are you doing?" Minx asks as I creep toward Rapido and Jessica.
"Be calm, you'll wake them," I reply.
Minx crosses her arms angrily as I creep over to Rapido and Jessica. They seem to be sleeping soundly. I'll have to disturb them. I pet Rapido on the head and he shakes his head fluttering his ears.
"Rapido?"
I point away from Jessica and he scurries out of my way. I grab the broken reigns on Jessica's saddle and feel her jolt as she wakes.
