"The rooftop? What's she doing on the rooftop?" Dennis wondered aloud, his hand hesitating mid-knock as he read Sarah's message on his phone. He scanned the hallway, locating the stairs.

As Timothy walked out of the room, Dennis turned toward the stairway.

"Wondering what you could be doing on the rooftop," Dennis voiced, startling Sarah from her reverie.

Lost in thought, she had been thinking of  excuses for Dennis' impending arrival. She turned to him with a bright smile, hoping to conceal her anxiety.

"Just taking a look around the city. You can practically see everything from here; it's really lovely," Sarah said, her voice steady.

"It's the tallest building in the city, so you can see everything," Dennis replied, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

"Got your message just as I was about to knock on your door."

"Really?" Sarah's face lit up with a mix of relief and happiness.

"Yeah, I'm sorry I came late. Was held up with some palace work. Keeping a lady waiting isn't a gentleman's attitude, so I apologize, my lady," Dennis said with a gallant bow.

Sarah chuckled. "You sure you're not still in the spirit of palace work? What's with the bow?"

Dennis's face flushed. "That must have been cringy."

"It was," Sarah teased, and they both laughed.

"You look beautiful, by the way."

"I know," Sarah replied with a straight face.

"Now that wasn't cringy at all."

"It's natural; you can't force it."

"Ahh, I see I have a lot to learn from you, Elodie Laurent."

"I might teach you one or two if you get on my good side."

"I'll keep that in mind."

They laughed, and Dennis offered his arm.

"Shall we?"

"Sure."

They passed through the secret exit to the VIP underground parking lot. Sarah's eyes widened at the array of exotic cars.

"You've got a nice car," she said, struggling to contain her excitement.

Dennis smiled. "Thank you" he replied

"Mercedes Benz Brabus 700, 2023," Sarah identified, her eyes sparkling.

Dennis's jaw dropped. "Oh... oh my God! Elodie! Where have you been all my life? You know cars?" Dennis asked, surprised.

"You bet."

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find someone that has common interests with you? My best friend doesn't even share both with me"

"Let me guess, your friend loves cars but not art?"

"Exactly; he's into cars but knows nothing about art."

"I have a friend like that too. We talk about cars a lot. That's actually how we met, at a car show back in college"

"That's really impressive Elodie. Can you give me like a heads up when you want to surprise me again like that?"

Sarah let out a laugh as Dennis opened the car door for her.

As they arrived at the snooker club, a valet swiftly took Dennis's car key. The club manager, Juliana welcomed them warmly.
