...

kageyama prided himself on his ability to maintain healthy, mostly because of volleyball, but since meeting y/n he started to think otherwise.

he's been noticing strange sensations within him whenever the girl is around and whenever he brings it up to his older sister, she laughs right at his face.

he doubted hinata would know why, so he went to the person whose wisdom he trusts the most. sugawara koushi.

"so, what you're saying is since you've met that girl, you've started feeling weird feelings, right?" sugawara inquired and kageyama nodded eagerly, maybe his trusted senior would be the one to tell him what was wrong.

"what kind of feelings?" sugawara was silently getting a laugh out of his favorite junior's first crush, "like... it's like there are bugs in my stomach when i'm around her. maybe it's just something wrong with my stomach, right? i ate at cafeteria 4 with hinata even though atsumu-san warned us about the food being bad."

"that's probably it, right? food poisoning." sugawara really shouldn't have gotten his hopes up for a quick realization. "no, kageyama, i don't think it's food poisoning. back to the bugs, though. do they feel like butterflies?"

"how am i supposed to know what butterflies feel like, senpai?" a loud bang resonated throughout the cafe they were sitting in, sugawara decided that a concussion would hurt less than this. he needed daichi.

fifteen minutes later and there were three of them at the cafe table, and daichi was slightly better help than suga, though the latter was loathe to admit it.

"so, kageyama, what you're feeling when you're around her... does it remind you of the feelings you get when you play volleyball?" at that, the raven-haired setter's eyes lit up in recognition, "yes, yes, that's exactly what it feels like."

"why didn't you mention that in the first place?" sugawara whisper-yelled, daichi only rolled his eyes and continued his interrogation. it was perfect practice for when he's a real cop.

"when she talks about other guys, it feels like getting subbed out of a game, right?" kageyama recalled the girl's recent post and nodded. "i think i know what you're dealing with, then."

kageyama was very eager to know, it was almost getting in the way of his playing. "kageyama, you have a crush." daichi declared with a sense of finality, "aaaand i have a class to get to in... ten minutes, see you around!"

after the former-captain left, silence enveloped the two setters. "kageyama, have you never had a crush before?" sugawara asked curiously, and the boy shook his head.

"i was too occupied with volleyball and getting better at volleyball, i never really thought about this kind of thing."

"well, feel free to ask me if you have any questions! i'll always be happy to answer them, okay? i've gotta run so i'll see you when i see you!"

kageyama also left the cafe after a while, he wasn't sure what to do with the newfound information so he resorted to volleyball like always. he entered an empty gym and started practicing his jump serves over and over.

he didn't stop until he heard the door creak and saw locks of long hair peaking from behind it. his breath hitched.

"heeey, tobio! tsumu told me you'd be here. he also mentioned that you've been at this for almost an hour. yogurt break?" kageyama blamed his flush on the humidity of the court and his nonstop practice.

"sure, let me go get changed, i'm done practicing." y/n nodded, "i'll be waiting!" kageyama hoped she wasn't just talking about having yogurt.
