kageyama let out a sigh as he watched his girlfriend play her games. he adored how her eyebrows furrowed when she concentrated on it and how a triumphant smile would show up on her face when she'd win a round.
he was startled out of his staring when she caught him and spoke up, "tobi, don't you have any classes today?" he shook his head no.
"then, don't you have volleyball practice?" he shook his head no again and she sit up so fast, her psp almost went flying.
"so we can hang out all day today??" part of kageyama wanted to remind her that she had classes of her own that afternoon but soon ignored the urge to do so. he wanted quality time with his girlfriend and he was going to get it, goddamn it.
he was thinking of all the dates they could go on when she spoke up again, timidly this time, "ooookay, so you know how my parents and sister are in the city for a few days?" he silently nodded, he was really hoping this was going where he wanted it to go.
"they uh, they wanna meet you..!" she announced with a flourish to shake off her nerves, "only if you're comfortable with it, of course!" kageyama was so happy, he wanted to jump up for joy but instead he said,
"i would love to meet your family, y/n."
and so they started preparing for their late lunch, when they exited kageyama's room, hinata was lounging in the living room. he beamed when he saw y/n, he had been growing fond of her as she visited their dorm and slept over frequently.
"y/n-san, good afternoon! are you leaving now?" he greeted, always so cheerful and sunshine-y, "shoyo-kun, hello! yep, i'm heading back to my dorm. tobi and i are having lunch with my family later so i'm gonna go get ready."
hinata then turned his attention to kageyama who seemed like he was going to vibrate out of his own skin in excitement and anxiety and laughed. he was happy that his bestfriend was happy too.
"i'll leave you to it, then! kageyama-kun, you better walk y/n-san home or i'll move all your things out into the hallway!" hinata joked and y/n laughed fondly at their banter.
the couple walked side-by-side and hand-in-hand in the direction of y/n's dorm as she gave him a breakdown of her family.
"okay, so dad is most definitely going to act all tough but once volleyball gets brought up, he'll forget all about his act. we really are meant to be aren't we? my dad's a volleyball fan and my boyfriend's a varsity player!"
"anyways, i already know mom is going to love you, we talk about you a lot with my sister when we call. you don't have to worry about either of them. or well, any of them, really. just be yourself and they'll fall as hard as i did for you."
kageyama couldn't believe his life, he was playing as a setter for the university of tokyo's varsity team with his friends from high school, and he was in his first, and best relationship ever.
