"WE HAVE TO GO." VIOLETTE whispered to Alex who was in bed beside her.

"I know." He laughed as he kissed her softly.

"Alex!" She exclaimed and pushed him away. "There's no time for that."

Alex looked at her with adoring eyes. "Are you sure?" He questioned playfully causing a smile to etch its way onto her face.

"I'm sure. And if Derek sees you..."

"He'd kill me."

"Right!"

"Come here." He pulled her back down and into his embrace tightly.

"Alex!"

"Why do we even have to do this." Alex groaned as the two held hands outside of Meredith's house awaiting for someone to open the door.

"Because it's thanksgiving!" Violette squealed at the thought.

Before Alex could say anything else, three men ran over to the house. "Does Georgie live here?" The older one asked.

"Georgie?" Alex looked at the men confused.

Meredith finally opened the door and the men all ran is as fast as humanly possible.

"Georgie?!" They all called out whilst they ran up the stairs.

"Ohh! George." Violette laughed knowing they must be George's relatives.

"Very manly nickname." Alex scoffed before getting hit by Violette.

"That's not very nice."

"You're cute." He smirked.

"So, I'm going to the hospital!" Meredith blurted out before walking past the two.

"W- what? Mer!" Violette exclaimed but before she knew it, Meredith had gotten into the car and drove off.

"This is going to be a long day." Alex sighed and the two walked in with his hand on the small of her back.

•••

"What's doctor Burke doing here?" Violette whispered to Alex as her eyes darted over to the tall man entering the house.

"I'm not sure." He replied and saw how she was starting to fidget with her hands and instantly grabbed ahold of them.

"Shepherd, Karev." Burke greeted the doctors as he walked in with Izzie and Cristina not far behind him, whispering to each other like children.

"Hi, doctor Burke." Alex replied whilst Violette sat beside him with a soft smile on her face.

"Nice house." Burke said to Izzie as he walked around the house clad in smart clothing.

"Uh- t- thank you Doctor Burke."

"People who are shocked when I show up uninvited to their homes call me Preston."

"Nobody calls you Preston." Cristina scoffed then realised he was being serious.

"You don't call me Preston. Is something burning?" He asked as he smelt burning through the air.

"Oh. Yes!" Violette quickly hopped off the sofa and into the kitchen, she was so anxious about everything that she forgot to put a glove on and burnt her hand as she went to take the turkey out. "Oh god!" She winced in pain.

"Violette?" Alex ran up and saw the burn on her hand, he grabbed onto her wrist and put it under hot water immediately.

"What happened?!" Izzie shrieked at the sight of Violettes hand. "You're a surgeon, Violette!"

"That's not helping." Alex said sternly while Violette felt excruciating pain piercing through her hand. "I'll take her to the hospital."

"What the hell!" Cristina blurted out as she noticed her friends hand. Burke grimaced at the sight and the two made their way to the car.

"Are you in pain?" Alex looked at his girlfriend sympathetically whilst she tried to hold the tears.

"I'm fine." She lied to avoid the fact she was not fine.

After what felt like a long car journey, they arrived at the hospital and instantly bumped into Meredith.

"What- what are you both doing here?" She looked at them with a confused look.

"We had an accident." Alex gestured to Violettes hand which he was carefully holding onto by her wrist.

"Oh- oh god. I'll take you to Bailey." Meredith said then led them to their resident who looked equally as shocked as Meredith.

"Someone get plastic surgery down here to treat this burn and-" she stopped then began whispering before she continued "page Derek Shepherd."

•••

"Violette!" The curtains that surrounded the bed swung open and to Violettes surprise, there was her brother.

"Derek?"

"Why do I need to be paged by someone else to tell me my sister has been injured?" His voice turned to a more stern tone, he also ignored the fact Meredith was in the room and kept his focus onto Violette.

"I-"

"Let me see." He instructed in which she extended her arm for him to see. "What the hell did you do?"

"I burnt-"

"I can see that. I mean how."

"I was careless." Violette sunk her head down and let out a sigh. She knew she shouldn't have been so thoughtless.

"Everyone out." Derek instructed and the interns along with Bailey exited the small room which was kept private by a curtain. Derek sat beside her and looked at Violette with his sympathetic blue eyes.

"I'm sorry, Derek." Violette said to him with a shaky breath while she let a small tear fall from her eye. "I screw everything up." As she blinked, all the tears began to pour down her face.

"Hey. Hey." Derek looked at her wet eyes and gave her a smile. "This was an accident and you don't screw anything up."

"Recently, I have been." She laughed a little to hide the pain she really felt

Derek pulled her into his embrace, carefully watching he didn't injure her bandaged hand more than it already was. "You don't ever screw anything up." He kissed her on the head and wiped the tears from her face.

•••

"Take the drugs and be careful." Bailey instructed her intern as Alex and her were walking back to the car. "Happy thanksgiving."

"Thank you, doctor Bailey." Violette said with a genuine voice. She appreciated everything her resident did for her.
