"YOU REALISE HOW STUPID that was?" Dylan said as he strapped a flak jacket around her."That was incredibly stupid." Cristina butted in.
"Violette." Alex looked at the girl, his eyes full of fear. She didn't dare look up. She knew the tears would fall if she did.
"You have to go." Violette spoke quietly.
"I'm not leaving you."
"Alex! You have go." She told him, trying to keep the water in her eyes. Her heart was practically beating in her ears. All her friends were practically on the bomb floor along with her boyfriend and her brother.
"You three. Leave." Burke told them sternly. "There's nothing more you can do. We have this covered."
"But-" Alex started but was quickly interrupted.
"We've got her." Dylan reassured and eventually, Alex gave in.
•••
"Please stop." Violette asked the two men who were infront of her whispering as if she was a patient. "Just tell me. What's wrong?"
"The main oxygen line runs under this room." Burke told her calmly.
"Oh god." Violette knew what this meant.
"Violette. All it means is we have to move the gurney." Dylan slowly walked towards her as he explained.
"But- but I can't even move my fingers and you want to move the whole thing? It'll kill everyone." Her breathing became faster by the second. Never had she ever been so scared in her life.
"Don't panic. I'll get you out of here alive."
"Shepherd, this is our only option. You have this. It's no problem." Burke said to the intern. He couldn't let Derek Shepherds sister die, not under his supervision.
"I've got this."
•••
"What the hell is going on?" Alex yelled as he saw them moving the gurney slowly down the halls.
"Stop. Stop right where you are." Dylan snapped sternly.
"You're going to get her killed!" He exclaimed with anger.
"We have a plan. Now do not move." Dylan continued to move the gurney slowly. "I thought doctor Burke told you to leave."
"We're moving the to an OR further away from the oxygen line. Incase I blow up." Violette said to Alex whilst her hand was shakily placed in the patients body.
"I distinctively recall Burke telling you to leave."
"Just because they left doesn't mean I was going to." Alex responded, referring to Cristina and Meredith who knew it would be safer on the bottom floor along with the other interns.
"I'm scared." Violette admitted quietly.
"Hey. You don't need to be afraid." Alex came as close to her as he could while they walked together to the other OR.
"I had a feeling."
"I know."
•••
They had successfully made it to the OR room but now Violette had to remove her hand. The fear in her body grew every minute. The bile was slowly rising up her throat but she was forced to keep it down.
"You ready?" Burke asked which quickly snapped Violette out of her thoughts.
"I- I guess I have to be."
"Scalpel."
"All right. Now Violette, wrap your hand around the nose cone." Dylan slowly instructed. He looked into Violettes eyes and realised she was barely listening. Her face was wet from the tears and he could see her shaky breathes. "Violette?"
"Shepherd?" Burke turned down to look at the intern. Her focus coming back for a moment but then losing herself in her thoughts once again. "Shepherd."
"Alex should know that I love him." She blurted out.
"No. You hear me?" Dylan slowly told her in a 'you're not dying today' manner."
"Tell Derek I love him and he's the best brother I could ever have."
"Shepherd. pressures dropping." Burke alerted her.
"Oh god. I can't do this! This is insane. You all have to leave the room, I can't let you all die."
"You think Shepherd won't kill me anyway if I let his sister die?" Burke said with a little bit of humour. "Nobody is dying."
"Look at me, Violette. Picture me as someone you love."
Violette looked up into his eyes. She saw Derek. Telling her she was going to be okay. That everything was going to be fine.
A teary eyed Violette slowly pulled her hand from the body along with the bomb tight in her grasp.
She placed it into Dylan's hands who left the room at a leisurely pace. She was so in shock of it all that Violette felt the need to make sure Dylan was okay.
She walked out of the room, mimicking the pace he was going. Once Violette got outside she began to walk closer to him when all of a sudden-
Violette felt her body being thrown back onto the floor. Her head hitting the ground along with a loud thump.
Then darkness overcame her.
•••
Violette woke up and felt pain. Everywhere.
Her eyes were so heavy that she was unable to open them. She couldn't ignore the throbbing sensation that went through her head.
A familiar voice echoed through her ears, only causing more discomfort in her head.
"Violette."
She managed to slowly open her eyes to reveal a blurry Derek standing above her.
"Shh. Shh. It's okay, I've got you." She heard him say as he carefully lifted her up.
"Derek." Violette whispered shakily in his arms.
"I know it hurts. It's going to be okay." Was the last thing she heard before losing consciousness.
