AFTER THE BOMB explosion, Violette was diagnosed with a concussion and was given as many days of work as she would like, but being the stubborn girl she is, Violette decided to go back to work only two days afterwards.

"Are you sure you're ready? You know you can have a few days off if you need-" Derek had been coming to where Merediths house, where Violette lives for the past two mornings to make sure she was okay, he knew she shouldn't go back so soon but also knew how insubordinate she was.

"I'm ready, Derek!" She exclaimed angrily, frustrated on keep being asked the same questions.

Violette went to hurry out of her room but was stopped by a firm grip onto her shoulders.

"Violette."

"Derek. I don't want to be late." She tried to escape from his grasp but he wasn't giving in.

"I'm serious, Vi. You suffered from a hard fall, never mind the trauma from it as well!"

"I wouldn't work if I wasn't ready."

"You know, he's acting like I committed a crime." Cristina pushed past George and over to where Meredith and Violette were. "Like my apartment is full of- Violette! You back." Her gaze turned to the brunette infront of her who she hadn't seen for a few days.

"I'm back and perfectly fine and ready to be here." She told them in the same reassuring tone that she gave Derek.

"You're back." Alex whispered from behind her, he had been on call that night and wasn't able to convince her on not going in. He wrapped his arms around her waist causing her eyes to light up.

"Alex!" She turned around and pulled him into a tight hug as if they hadn't seen one and another for days. (They were with each other the day before).

"Ew." Cristina grimaced at the sight of 'love' as she continued to explain her and Burkes situation.

As the interns are walking through the corridor, Izzie beams at the sight of their resident and her newly born child. "Good morning, Doctor Bailey." She greeted before turning her focus to the baby in her arms. "Oh! Aren't you a cutie." Izzie cooed in a baby voice.

"Are the ORs up and running?" Bailey asked sternly, ignoring the intern that was a little too close for comfort.

"Yes. Fully functional." Cristina informed.

"Except some smoke damage to the corridor." George added whilst watching the baby Izzie was whispering to.

"How about you?" Bailey turned her body to Violette. "You fully functional. I heard what happened. That was stupid." She said, deep down Bailey did care but she wasn't going to go out her way and show it.

"I'm fine, thank you." The brunette responded with a laugh. "How is your husband?"

"We're taking him home tommorow." Bailey then glanced at her baby whilst speaking in a voice much like Izzied was . "Yes we are, aren't we?"

"Yes you are a big boy." Izzie joined in but Bailey quickly shot her an unimpressed look.

Violette was stood at the nurses station, typing into the computer along side her intern friends when a familiar voice appeared.

"Invasive non-cell. With a history of COPD. That guys pretty much a goner, huh?"

Violette instantly looked up to see Mark Sloan.

"Mark?"

"There's my favourite Shepherd." He smirked. Violette couldn't help but feel excited deep down at his appearance. She was also close with Mark but knew that Derek would hate if they were to become friends again. "You're all grown up."

"It's only been a bit more than a year." Violette laughed but before she knew it, Derek had thrown a punch right into Mark jaw sending him to the floor a lot like he did when he hit Alex.

"Derek!"

"Who was that?" Meredith spoke up.

Derek straightened his posture a bit before continuing. "That... was Mark."

The Chief made Derek, Addison, and Violette go to the conference room to sort the situation out. Violette put an ice pack on Dereks hand even know he stated he didn't need it.

"Punching out people on my surgical floor!" Richard shouted at Derek who couldn't help but roll his eyes. "My head of neurosurgery punching out people on my surgical floor!"

"Der, keep the ice on your hand." Violette told him with as much as a stern tone as she could make out seeing as her voice is always laced with softness.

"My hand is fine." Derek pushed it away, he knew this wasn't Violettes fault and ended up giving in to the ice pack.

"Now would someone tell me, what the hell happened or who happened." Richard demanded.

Derek shot Addison a look before she began explaining to Richard who Mark was. "That was Mark."

"Who's Mark?" Richard questioned a lot calmer than before.

"He and Derek used to work together back in New York." Addison cleared her throat knowing how awkward it was going to be. "We were- we were all very close up until- until Derek found me and him in bed together." Addison admitted causing a simultaneously sigh from the siblings beside her.

The room was filled with an uncomfortable silence until Richard decided to break it. "You put your weight behind it?" He turned to Derek.

"Yes sir."

"Well- alright then." Richard got up and excused himself from the awkward room.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Derek questioned Addison sharply.

"I- I don't know, Derek." She responded, Addison got up from her seat and left the room leaving the Shepherds alone with their thoughts.

"What are you going to do?" Violette looked Derek with a sad expression.

"I- I don't know."

Violette walked into the x-ray room to find Mark and Alex looking at a patients scans.

"I got paged?" She said quietly as she got closer to the two.

"I paged you here, Vi." Mark told her, she tensed at the name he always called her. "This guy here has told me about an advanced case of craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, have you ever seen anything like it?" He practically beamed.

"Mark, I-"

"I know what you're going to say but this isn't about Derek."

Alex looked at the two with confusion. How did this guy know Violette?

"She's not cleared for surgery." Alex spoke up knowing that the Chief hadn't cleared her since it was her first day back.

"What? Vi, what's he talking about?" Mark worriedly enquired.

The brunette stood infront of the two men in silence, she didn't want to have to explain, Violette hadn't properly spoken about it and was choosing not to unless she really had to.

"It doesn't matter. I'll get cleared." Violette began to walk out the door but was quickly held back by Alex's hand which didn't go unnoticed by Mark.

"You need to take things slow." He whispered into her ear.

"I'll be fine." She smiled and quickly aborted the room.

"What was that about?" Mark watched as Violette left the room and turned his focus to Alex.

"There was a bomb." He admitted.

"What?"

"Her hand was holding a bomb in a body cavity, it blew up and she got hurt from the force."

Mark was astonished. How could Derek keep this from him. The girl he counted as a sister since her birth almost died?
