"Where are you going?" Rowan asked as Paige pulled into an unfamiliar dorm complex. "My dorm, how else would I fix you up?" She said, like it was the most chill thing ever. "No, bring me home, to my dorm." Rowan stated, not getting out of the car. "Fine" Paige said, rebuking herself in. She respected the girls wishes. The two drove back in silence, bodies separated, the only sound was the soft radio playing. "You can drop me off here" Rowan stated, unbuckling. Paige looked at her, her blue eyes piercing into Rowan's soul.

"Don't look at me like that!" Rowan grumbled, "like what?!" Paige said, matching the brunettes tone. "Like that!" Rowan threw her hand up, pointing to the blonde who sat there, clueless. "You can't just waltz back into my life after you-" Rowan stopped herself. "Oh my gosh Rowan! You're still on that, I told you it was a mistake, an accident, we were in high school, leave it, let it be, drop it!" Paige yells.

"I can't stand you! And when you see me around campus, do us both a favor, and don't talk to me. Someone might think we're friends." Rowan said, slamming the jeep door closed. "Oh like that's the worst thing to ever happen! Us being friends." Paige screamed out her window, watching the girl walk off. "Never said that Paige" Rowan yelled as she walked off. "Whatever, you're welcome for the ride!" Paige yelled, watching closely making sure the girl got inside.

Rowan quickly unlocked her dorm, carefully tiptoeing to the bathroom, trying to not wake her roommate. She washed the blood of her hand and wrapped it up tightly with an ace bandage. She didn't understand why Paige had to be so difficult.

Rowan sat on her bed, running her hands through her hair, as she thought about that night...

July 4th, 2020
Delia's Party (Rowan's teammate from high school, and Paige's friend)

"Okay spin Rowan!" Delia yelled, Delia Ashe was one of Rowan's teammates and schoolmates, she hosted a huge Fourth of July party at her house every year. Since it was their senior year, Delia went all out. They had just walked back from fireworks and were all sitting around the fire pit, playing spin the bottle.

More than half of the people there were drunk, and screaming. Rowan really wanted to leave but her ride home was insanely wasted and she wasn't about to risk walking home in the dark. Rowan looked up before twisting the empty bottle. Her eyes met with the blonde basketball star, Paige Bueckers.

Rowan's eyes flashed back down to the bottle, giving it a twist, watching it slow down. It stopped spinning, everyone cheering, Rowan's eyes peeled up from the ground, looking to who it landed on. Paige Bueckers. Shit, great, just the person I wanted, Rowan thought. She didn't have a reason not to like Paige, she kinda just did. Rowan was competitive and she knew Paige was too. The two have hung out in a group a trillion times but have never really talked, occasionally exchanging glares and drunk trash talk.

Paige smirked, standing up, walking over to the girls beach chair. Rowan felt like her ass was glued to the beach chair, she watched the blonde straddle her, gently sitting on Rowan's lap. She's never seen Paige this up close before, and she wasnt gonna lie, she looked hot. She had the lightest patch of freckles across her nose, that someone could only notice if they were this close to her. Her blue eyes were deep and dark, filled with a mysterious look. Her lips were a light shade of cherry pink, soft and plump.

Paige looked down at the girl, her eyes flipping from Rowan's lips to her green eyes. The blondes hand reached down to Rowan's brunette hair, swiping it out of her face and tucking it behind her ear. Paige's hand rested on Rowan's jaw, her other hand gently squeezing Rowan's waist. The blonde slowly leaned in, closing her eyes as their lips sparked together.

Rowan couldn't tell if it was the alcohol talking or the raging headache she had from the blasting music but all she knew was that the kiss her and Paige shared was the best kiss she had ever had. Paige tasted like vanilla ice cream, with a hint of cherry from her Shirley temple. The kiss was soft and gentle, just like Rowan liked them.

Paiges hands felt like they were electric, as she touched the girls body. Rowan slowly pulling away, after realizing they were being watched by their whole grade. Paige smiled wide, swinging her leg around and standing up, walking back to her seat. The rest of the night Rowan was in shock, being stared down by the blonde across the firepit.

Rowan finally dragged her friend out, a little hesitant since she had been drinking but Rowan didn't have any other choice, her car wasn't here. Rowan slipped her shoes on as she waited for her friend in the bathroom. "Hey! You leavin?" Paige asked, jogging up to the girl. "Uh ya I'm heading out" Rowan said, awkwardly picking at her nails. "Oh okay, um do you need a ride, I'm heading out too, and don't worry I haven't been drinking like your friend over there" Paige laughed, as she looked at Rowan's friend who was stumbling out of the bathroom.

"Uh sure if you don't mind, I'll be right back" Rowan smiled, running to her friend. Rowan lectured the drunk girl, telling her not to go near her car and to sleep at Delia's tonight. "Ready?" Paige asked, opening the back door. Rowan nodded as she let Paige lead the way to her car.

"Hey so uh about the kiss, I hope you know it didn't mean anything. Just for the entertainment of the people, and the game. Besides I would never kiss a girl like that and you're not exactly my type. Hope you didn't get the wrong idea" Paige said as she pulled up to Rowan's house. "What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Rowan snapped, offended by the blondes words.

"I just mean you're not exactly my type" Paige shrugged, her whole body now facing the brunette. "Really?! Huh, didn't seem like that a hour ago when your tongue was down my throat!" Rowan yelled, frustrated. "Bye Paige, thanks for the ride." Rowan hopped out of the car, grabbing her bag, not letting the blonde finish. "See you at UConn" Paige yelled as the brunette ran off to her front door of her house. Shit I forgot! Paige is going to UConn too, Rowan thought.

Present Time

The next morning Rowan woke up late, classes also started today which was just great for her. "ROWAN!" Maggie screamed, throwing a pillow at her. Rowan quickly woke up and realized she had to be in class in 15 minutes, her first ever UConn class. She sprinted around her dorm, throwing on jean shorts and a tank top, brushing her teeth, and lightly applying some makeup.

Maggie collected her books and pencil case and shoved it into a tote bag. The two ran to their first class, Maggie having some business one and Rowan having an anatomy one. She creaked the door open, sliding in and taking the first seat she could find. She set her stuff down, the class had already started but the professor didn't notice her coming in. "Someone woke up late" a girl teased from in front of her. Rowan's head snapped, seeing the one and only Paige Bueckers to be sitting in front of her.

She had a wide smirk on her face, "ya whatever" Rowan rolled her eyes, "what did you just roll out of bed? Your hairs a mess" Paige laughed, her eyes staring at Rowan's brunette hair that was pushed up into a messy bun. "Fuck off Paige" Rowan snapped, not in the mood for the girls jokes. "Jeez, and ya woke up on the wrong side of the bed" Paige laughed, finally turning back around.

Rowan rolled her eyes as she took out her hair, brushing her fingers through it, in attempt to make it look some what presentable. She could barely focus on the teacher, with the blonde sitting in front of her. "Okay that's all I have for you guys today, make sure to grab those textbooks on the table right there before you leave. We will be using them for class and you will all need them to study!" The professor said, sitting down at her desk. Rowan stood up, collecting her stuff and shoving it back into the tote bag Maggie had got for her.

Suddenly a textbook was slammed on her desk, a hand on top of it. Rowan examined the hand, trying to figure out whose it was. The nails were short and un painted, fingers covered with rings and vains gently popping out. Rowan looked up to see the familiar blonde that easily got on her nerves. "Got you a textbook" Paige stated, releasing her hand from the desk. "Thanks" Rowan mumbled, grabbing it and placing it in her bag, then walking off.
