*long chapter ahead but worth it!!

After class, Rowan quickly collected her stuff, running out the door, catching up to Jack, "Jack wait up!" She yelled to him, running to be by his side. "Wait what do you mean by Paige went up to you?" Rowan leaned her head up as she asked the tall boy. "Like when we were seniors, one night I was just hopping around with the guys and she pulled up and pulled me to the side, and threatened me that if I ever went near you again she would like kill me or something" he shrugged.

"That's all she said? Why?" Rowan scratched her head, confused as fuck. "No clue dude, I think she knew I used to like you and probably was jealous or something" Jack said, turning the corner of the hallway. Rowan walked right back up to him, following him down the hallway "okay so she told you to stay away for me? why would she say that?" Rowan asked him like he would know the anwser. "Bro I don't know, but I have class, I'll see you around?" He said, turning to face the brunette. "Ya, bye Jack" she smiled at him "bye Ro" she smiled back, opening the class door.

Rowan was so confused, her and Paige barely spoke in high school, except for the few times they were forced to hang out by their friends. Even then they kept their distance. It teased Rowan's brain, she needed to know why Paige said that to him.

Rowan decided to go to the only place she knew Paige would be at, the basketball court. She swung open the double doors revealing a empty gym. She was annoyed, she needed to confront this girl. She walked down to the hallway, climbing up the stairs. She could hear the girls voice, making her run up the stairs even faster. As she ran she suddenly felt her ankle give out, hearing some sort of crack, that didn't sound very comforting. She dropped to the floor, holding her ankle in pain. "Fuck!" She whimpered.

"Clumsy ass" Paige laughed, slowly walking down the stairwell to meet the girl. "Of course it's you, it's always fucking you. I swear you're following me around!" Rowan groans. "Ha keep dreaming, now get up your in my way" Paige smirks, "Paige I'm not kidding it really fucking hurts" Rowan wined, trying her hardest not the brake down in tears in front of the blonde. She could have sworn she just broken her ankle. "Is that a tear? I don't think you had that in you" Paige teased at the girls painful face.
Rowan glared at her, she wasn't kidding when she said it hurt, and Paige making jokes about it was pissing her off even more. "Ok drama queen, let me see" Paige leaned down to the girl, joining her on the floor, resting her hands on the girls hurt ankle.

Rowan immediately groaned in pain by the pressure of the contact, "don't- don't touch it, please, it hurts" Rowan cried as she threw her head back. "Try to keep still, and let me look at it" Paige said, her hands wrapping around her ankle more, "fuck Paige, don't touch me!" Rowan snapped, backing away from the girl. "Listen here Koros, you have made it very clear your not a fan of me, I don't like you either, but I'm not going to let you suffer when I know I can do something to help. So shut the fuck up and accept my help" Paige snapped, before leaning her head back down to focus on the ankle.

A wave of anxiety came over Rowan, something that happened to often. She had gone through this to many times before, getting injured, risking her softball career. It made her sick to her stomach knowing she might have just ruined her season for her. "Paige, I don't- I don't feel so good" Rowan said as she put a hand over her stomach. She hated showing Paige her weak side but she couldn't help it. She whipped her head to the side, her stomach erupting on the floor next to her. Great, just great. She had threw up, in front of Paige.

Instead of teasing her, the blonde weirdly comforted her, pulling her hair up and out of her face, running her back. This was weird, a different side of Paige. "I'm here, I got you. Deep breaths" Paige hummed, calming her down. Paige stood up, grabbing under Rowan's armpits, scooping her up to her feet. The blonde went to swipe her legs up to carry her but Rowan stopped her before she could "don't you dare pick me up dick head" Rowan snapped, she truly didn't have to be so mean to Paige. She didn't really want to be but in the back of her mind all she could think about was that damn kiss on the Fourth of July. The one that Paige told her it meant nothing, and that she was never her type.
