*long chapter, but worth it (I think)!!
"Okay so I need a couple of you to go grab some extra softballs, any volunteers?" Rowan's coach yelled at the team. Rowan had just got out of her math class, her brain could barely think straight. Her professor shoved so much information into her brain and she couldn't handle it. "We will!" Maggie yelled, lifting up Rowan's hand. The coach nodded, "ok there in the basketball gym, in the closet, ask Coach Geno for the keys" Their coach said.
Maggie dragged her off, walking towards the big glass double doors. "Hey you okay, you seem off? Do you wanna talk about it?" Maggie asked the girl as she pushed open the door. "Nah I'm good, thanks though. My math professor talks to much" Rowan laughed as they walked through the hallway. Rowan reached her hand out, trying to pull open the door to the gym. "Omg! Ro! WTH happened to your hand?!" Maggie screamed, grabbing the girl's injured hand.
"Ah my knife slipped while I was trying to cut my grip, no biggie" Rowan said casually, re-attempting to pull the door open. "Girl it's a push door first of all" Maggie laughed, Rowan slapping her face, feeling dumb. "And second of all, that is no biggie! You definitely need stitches or something! It could rip open even more" Maggie said concerned.
Rowan shrugged it off, walking into the gym. The floor squeaked with sneakers that ran on it. Rowan and Maggie's eyes were met with the woman's basketball team, mid practice. They all looked back at the two, slightly confused. "Can I help you girls?" Coach Geno asked, stepping through the team and walking up to them. "Uh ya Coach sent us to get some more softballs from the equipment closet, she told us to ask you for the keys" Maggie spoke for her.
Rowan wasn't paying attention to the conversation in front of her, her eyes were to busy being glued to the familiar blonde who stood feet away, also looking right back at her. Paige had one of her navy blue basketball shorts on, her hair pulled up into her signature slick back bun. She had a white Nike sports bra on, sweat covering her skin making her glisten.
"Ro!" Maggie yelled at her, snapping the girl back into the world. Rowan quickly jogged up to the girl who was walking away. Geno led them to his office, handing them the keys "just give them back to me when your done, okay?" He told the girls.
They quickly nodded and scrammed out of his office, walking around the court to the closet, watching the girls shoot around. Rowan and Maggie both took a heavy bag, filled with softballs and carried them back to Geno. They handed him the key and walked out back to the softball field.
After practice, Maggie forced the brunette to go get her hand checked out. Maggie dragged her to the gampel pavilion. "Hey Emilee!" Maggie smiled at the girl, giving her a side hug. Maggie had just returned from her injury that happened her over the summer going into this freshman year. She broke her arm when she was jumping of a bridge, stupid. Cause of her injury, Maggie knew the sport medical team very well.
"Hey Mags! What can I do for you?" The ginger asked, tugging on her stethoscope. "My friend here, was stupidly cutting her grip and cut herself pretty badly" Maggie said, patting Rowan's shoulder. "We wondering if you could check it out, maybe stitch it up?" Maggie asked. The girl instantly nodded, showing them the way down the hall to the medical beds.
"Okay you can sit up here, I just quickly have to finish wrapping miss Paiges foot" Emilee smiled, walking over to the bed next to Rowan's. Rowan turned her head to see the one and only blonde laying next to her. Paige flashed her a teasing smile, then Emilee suddenly shut the curtain, cutting off the twos eye contact.
"Emilee you can keep the curtain open, I don't care" she heard Paige tell the girl. Emilee's hand then swung the curtain back open, reconnecting the twos eyes. "So how's your hand?" Paige asked Rowan. Rowan gave the girl a look, then turning her head to look down at her feet that swung below her. "It's fine" Rowan whispered.
