A day has passed since Rowan dropped Paige off at her dorm. She had just finished her last softball practice before her big game this weekend. She decided to take her time to get out, she showered extra long and helped her coach put away equitment. "Thanks Rowan, you can leave those in the closet at the basketball court" her coach smiled at her, handing her a bag of softballs.
Rowan slung her practice backpack over her shoulder and hoisted the bag in her arms. She walked down the path, admiring the sun as it was setting for sunset. She pushed open the big double doors to the gym with her butt. The automatic lights flicked on as she walked into the closet.
She looked around for an open spot on the shelf, placing the bag down. "Hey loser" Paige's voice said from behind her. "Ah!" Rowan jumped, turning around. "Haha, what's up?" Paige asked, leaning on the closet doorframe. "Nothin just putting equipment away" she said, pointing to the bag. Paige nodded and smirked "our secret spot, in five minutes?" Paige whispered. The way she said it gave Rowan the chills, butterflies swarming her stomach.
Rowan drove back to her dorm, grabbing a bathing suit, drenching herself in perfume, and curling her lashes. She walked to 'their' secret spot. She couldn't help but anxiously toy with her rings as she turned the corner. When she got there she saw Paige sitting in a towel, that she later out on a rock, dangling her feet in the lake.
Rowan sat next to her, dangling her feet in aswell. "You came" Paige hummed, she sounded almost surprised "you asked" Rowan whispered, making Paige blush. "Oh I brought Oreos!" Paige smiled after a moment of silence. She reached behind her, digging through a bag and pulled out a whole box of fresh mint oreos, Rowan's favorite.
"How'd you know that these are like my favorite things on earth?!" Rowan gasped, ripping the box open. "I saw them in your pantry when I was taking care of your foot. Just guessed" Paige smiled. Rowan's heart warmed, trying to wipe the stupid blush off her face that Paige gave her.
She quickly devoured a half sleeve of them. "I need to tell you something" Paige said, finishing a Oreo. Rowan nodded, keeping her eyes on the water in front of them. "That night in the fourth, what I said-" Paige almost whispered, Rowan could tell she was nervous. "I have never liked a girl before and I didn't know what to say" she said, Rowan couldn't quite put together what she was trying to say.
"Chill asshole, you said it yourself, it's in the past" Rowan said, not wanting to bring up the memory. "I know but," Paige hummed, she wanted Rowan to look at her, give her some attention. The blonde clasped her hands together, fighting the urge to lift up Rowan's chin so she would look her in the eyes. But Rowan knew that if she looked at Paige's blue eyes she wouldn't be able to stop herself from kissing her lips.
"Rowan look at me, tell me that you don't feel something between us, prove it to me that you've never felt something towards me" Paige said, Rowan still keeping her eyes on the water. "Damn it Rowan! Look at me!" Paige was getting frustrated.
Rowan couldn't take it, she didn't know what to say, she didn't want to say anything. She didn't know how to shut the girl up, so she grabbed her face and smashed their lips together. Rowan soon realized what she had done and quickly pulled away, "shit I'm so sorry! Oh my god, I definitely shouldn't have done that. I just don't know how to shut you up and I-" Rowan blurted out "Rowan!" Paige tried to pitch in, "I'm so sorry, gosh this is awkward and embarrassing, you know what if you don't even wanna talk to me ever again I get it, I-" "Rowan!" Paige tried again. "I'm so sor-"
Before Rowan could finish her sentence, Paige got ahold of her sweatshirt, pulling her in. She placed her lips on hers, a full on spark shooting up into the sky. Paiges hands found its way to Rowan's face, gently cupping it. What turned into a slow kiss, quickly flipped into a hot make out. "Gosh you're so damn gorgeous" Paige murmured, as she pulled away, their lips still centimeters apart. "I still hate you by the way" Rowan whispered as she re connected their lips again, a feeling she never wanted to forget. She could feel Paige smiling against her lips, causing her to smile aswell.
