"You", Liming's eyes were as wide as saucers, as he raised a shaking finger in his direction, "You were the one who—"
"Saved you?" Heart completed his sentence in one breath, "Yes, I am"
Liming stared, heart (organ) beating rapidly inside his ribcage. A shiver ran down his spine as his fingers curled over the blanket that was enveloping his frail figure. Heart was still standing a couple of feet away from him and his hands were in his pockets. He looked completely out of place and Liming felt the same. He remembered how Heart was goading him last night and to have him save from that predator... Liming didn't know what to feel or think. He should feel hatred but the gratefulness he was feeling for Heart was thawing at his own organ. He swallowed, deciding to end what he owed to him. He should probably say thank you and sent Heart on his merry way so they could never meet or see each other again and Heart could continue his "I hate Liming" campaign and Liming could go back to hating him.
"Why?" Liming found himself asking instead.
Maybe it wasn't what Heart expected too, as his eyes narrowed into slits and asked, "What do you mean why? I just saved you and the only thing you want to say is—"
"Why did you save me?" Liming asked, looking away, "You could've just let me get—"
Raped.
Heart heaved a sigh, which brought Liming's attention back to him. He was staring outside, forlornly and for once, Liming couldn't stop but wonder what was going through his mind. He had never actually paid any attention towards Heart when he was with Night. He had a feeling that Heart had a crush on Night, since he always found him mooning after him but that feeling was fleeting since Night and North was established as a couple and Heart became friends with North too. It was insane that North and Heart looked extremely alike, except that North was taller—way taller than everyone in their class and built like a bull. North looked crazy good, whereas Heart looked like he lacked every nutrient on earth. He looked frail with his spectacles and mushroom hair, following Night like a little puppy in need of attention. Perhaps that clinginess is what made Liming dislike him since the beginning. He hated clingy people—everyone except Night.
But that was before Night died. Heart apparently had a sudden growth spurt which propelled his height a little. Now he was tall as (or even taller—Liming assumed—than) North, and his arms were filling the gaps of his uniform. He also had resorted to wearing long trousers like North, with his shirt open and a puka shell necklace adorned his neck.
And he was definitely staring at Liming right now.
"I thought I'd have an answer to that question after seeing you, but I don't." Heart replied, his gaze sending actual shivers down Liming's body.
When was he this affected to Heart? And why was he noting everything about a kid who he never gave a fuck about? Liming really wanted to know why Heart saved him, but with the way the man was shutting up, he won't get a reply any time soon.
"I thought you hated me" Liming said, deciding that he should probably sit up.
Seeing Liming struggle with sitting, Heart reduced the distance between them and his hands were suddenly around Liming's body. Liming paused, gaze falling on Heart—whose face was practically in kissing distance. A staggering breath left his lips, as Heart zeroed on Liming's lips freezing him. They stared at each other—the tension cutting through the awkwardness that was masking the room earlier. Liming hated the fact that he noticed a small birthmark below Heart's left eye and for some reason, his heart (organ) was beating faster than normal.
"Oh" Heart said, making Liming look down at his lips that were moving languidly—as if intentionally, "I absolutely do. I hate the fuck out of you"
