Suspicion

It was early in the morning when you woke up seeing Alcina fast asleep next to you.

You blushed remembering last night, you got up and forgot to bring a clean pair of your work outfit last night.

You sighed and got dressed into your robe before exiting the room to get some actual clothes.

While you were walking through the empty halls you turned the corner and saw Ingrid.

"Y/n? What are you doing in the halls dressed like that??" She crossed her arms.

"U-uhm...." You needed to find a lie and quickly. "I was going to the kitchen to get orange juice..."

"Then why are you all the way over here? Your not remotely near your room or the kitchen." Se narrowed her eyes at you.

"Oh- uhm... I heard a loud noise from over here..." You laughed nervously.

"If you heard something don't you think I would've heard it too?" She scoffed at your obvious lies.

"Uhm you know what... Now that I think about it I was probably hearing things, uhm- gotta go and get dressed" you said quickly leaving.

Ingrid watched you leave 'I know she's been hiding something for a while but what?' she seethed before continuing to work.

"Phew that was close" you sighed getting to your room and getting dressed before heading back to Alcina.

you knocked before entering and when you walked in you saw the countess doing her makeup. She glanced at you through her mirror.

"There you are I was worried you ran away." She teased smirking.

You huffed "now why would I do that."

"I'm just teasing darling, but you did take a while, did something happen?" Alcina asked putting her lipstick down.

"No, nothing, just ran into Ingrid and she started interrogating me." You sighed.

She raised an eyebrow at you "dear I could've gotten your clothes for you."

"H-huh?? That would've been more suspicious." You stammered.

She waved her hand dismissively "well doesn't matter anymore.. come here, you have something on your face." She stated.

You approached Alcina "what is it?" You asked.

The countess smirked took your chin into her hand and kissed you taking you by surprise, but it was cut short when a knock rang out on her door.

She let your chin go and you backed up a bit trying to compose your flustered face. "Enter" Alcina spoke.

Ingrid entered the room and glanced at you. "My lady, I finished my morning route... Everything seems clear."

"Good anything else to report?" She asked turning back to her vanity.

"...yes.. last night when I was making sure that everyone was in their rooms y/n was not there." Ingrid stared at you. "And I have reason to suspect that she wasn't there all night."

You stayed silent and hoped that the countess would cover for you. You stared at her.

She was smirking she obviously found this amusing. You huffed in annoyance.

"Yes.. I forgot to inform you that I had y/n... working later than usual..." She looked at you a mischievous smirk on her face, you glared back.

"I see..." Ingrid said "then that's all."

"You are dismissed." Alcina said and Ingrid left the room.

You huffed again.

"Is there a problem draga mea?" She asked teasingly.

"You are annoying sometimes." You said looking away, even though you're not actually upset "you're always teasing me."

She hummed "bold of you, would you rather me ignore you?" She raised her eyebrow.

"Huh!? No!" You scoffed. "I'm just saying-" you were cut off.

"Darling don't act like you hate it, because I know you don't." She smiled patting your head. "Quite the bratty mood today." She stated.

"I'm not-"

"Enough of that, it's time for breakfast" she cut you off again.

You huffed and followed her out of her chambers. When you both got to the dinning room the countess turned to you and took your chin into her hand and you blushed.

"Keep an eye on that maiden- what's her name.. it starts with a V, my daughters have been quite persistent in killing her." She stated.

You nodded and she sat down at the table, when she did you noticed Ingrid staring at you.

You huffed and went up to her "hey Ingrid, where's Velvet at?" You asked.

"Why?" She asked.

"Alc- I mean.. the countess wanted me to go find her." You said.

"She's in the Grand Hall cleaning." She said dismissively.

You thanked her then left heading to the Grand Hall. You spotted her and tapped her shoulder. "Hey"

She jumped slightly and turned to face you. "O-oh.. it's you... D-did you need anything?" She asked softly.

"I'm going to be helping you out with things today." You stated.

"W-why..?" She asked.

"Because of the daughters" you said simply.

She nodded "your the lady's personal maiden aren't you?" She asked.

"Yeah, I am" you said proudly.

"I- isn't it scary?" She asked.

"Not for me" you said "I dont get scared."

"Does the countess kill people in her chambers?" She asked again.

"No- I doubt she would like the mess... Why?" You peered at her confused why she was asking all these questions.

"Well.. I heard loud sounds coming from her room last night when I was finishing my work... It was quite worrying.." she huffed.

Your eyes widened and you flustered. "Oh.. uhm.. she was probably mad about something" you laughed nervously.

Velvet nodded and continued cleaning, you helped in thought. 'if people find out what I have with Alcina what will happen..?' you sighed.

You didn't get much time to think when a knock rang out through the halls. It came from the front entrance.

You looked at Velvet "stay here I'll be back soon." You stated.

You went to the entrance and when you opened the doors a loud shrill sound rang out making you stumble backwards and cover your ears before you could even see who or what was at the doors...
