Lone 7-11
-Naoki-
I have been here before. But this isn't right.
I could only see fog around me. When was I here? I do know that it is nighttime. Maybe the early hours in the morning. All I know is that it's dark around here. There is no traffic here either. I don't think I am in the city.
My body moves before I can think of what to do next. Step. Step. Step. Step. I shivered despite not feeling cold. It's like my feet know where I am supposed to go. This isn't right. What am I doing here? Why am I here? This is wrong. This is wrong!
I can see the 7-11 in the distance. It glowed like a beacon to the lost. The sign and the store stood out in the darkness. I have been here before.
I just can't remember when.
Before I know it, I am have gotten closer. I can reach out and touch the door. The glass was so cold that it hurts my fingertips. There's nobody inside. There's no way I am going in. This isn't right. I shouldn't be here. I don't even remember why or how I got here.
The door swung open as if it had a mind of its own. I looked up. A cold breeze hit my face. I drew my eyes closed. What are you trying to tell me? That's when I heard the whispering. It came out so fast and soft. I could only make out three words.
"Don't come here."
I wanted to run away. I really did. But I ended going into the store. When I opened my eyes and looked up, there was nothing but bright light. I can hear chatter around me, but it doesn't come out clear. When did it get colder in here?
That's when I become aware that I am not alone in here.
I glanced behind me. There's no one there. No, wait...
I saw her eyes.
I could feel her breath on the back on my neck. I tried to open my mouth but it felt like my lips were stuck together. Her claws sank into my right shoulder. Now, I really couldn't move. Even through all of this, I waited for her to say something.
Come on. Spit it out. I shouldn't be here. I want to go home. Please let go of me.
You should not exist. I will destroy you all.
I really wished that she hadn't let me go. When her claws released me, I found myself falling into an empty void. Somehow, I wasn't scared. It all happened so fast. I just dropped and I was gone.
I don't know what that was. It didn't feel like a dream, but it didn't feel real either. Honestly, I didn't want to know. But we can't always get what we want, can we?
I woke up to my phone buzzing next to my futon. What is it now? I reached over and I picked up my phone. I read over what was on the screen. I sat up as fast as she could. I had to read the message about three more times. That was all it took for me to get up and get dressed.
