Chapter Eight A night in the life of big sis Ultear and her lil bro

August 15th

(Ultear) I was sitting on my bed reading a book about how magic was first created by the earliest mages witches and warlocks when my bedroom door opened and the sound of tiny feet entered my room, I set my book down onto the bed and I called out Gray is that you? Yeah it's me sis! What are you doing up Gray? It's nearly ten o clock.

I couldn't sleep sis I kept having nightmares about Ur's death in her battle against Deliora, Can I sleep with you just for tonight sis? You can sleep in your big sisters bed anytime you want because we are practically family, Gray then climbed up onto my bed and he asked me what you reading sis?

I'm just reading an old text which describes how the earliest known mages used and created various forms of magic, I was thinking that maybe we can go out and do something with Lucy and Meredy tomorrow afternoon if you want to kiddo! I miss ma sis! I know little bro but mom sacrificed herself to seal away an extremely dangerous entity, But remember that she will always be a part of you bro.

I then gently placed my hand on Gray's chest right above his heart and said Mom is here in your heart and she is in your mind as well, I know that I wasn't around when you and Lyon were taken in by mom but I will make it up to you by being here for you as you get older bro! You can go to sleep whenever you want to.

Besides I will protect you from those nasty old nightmares that have been keeping you up at night for years, I love you little bro I said as I placed a kiss on Gray's forehead you're one of the greatest people I have ever met and gotten to know Gray, Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise, you may not have had a great childhood the first time around with your parents dying but I will give you a second chance at happiness and a safe childhood.

But what if you die on a mission sis what would happen to me then? I looked into Gray's eyes and I saw tears beginning to form and so I said if something like that was to happen to me then   Your Aunt Meredy would take care of you, I won't lie to you Gray there's always the chance that could happen but that comes with our line of work, but that doesn't mean we should fear death.

But enough about that depressing topic why don't I read you a story if you'd like me to! Gray then asked What was mom like while you were growing up prior to your abduction? Mom was a great mother and I was so lucky that I got to have her as my mother, I wish I would've had more time with her but alas it wasn't meant to be, There are days I wish I could ask her for advice on things but I sadly can't.

For the longest time it was just Meredy and I for so long, I've made many mistakes that I'm not proud of Gray, One them being that I played a part in the destruction of Meredy's hometown and when I found her I took her in and I raised her as my own daughter, I wished every single night before I fell asleep that I could get some parental advice from mom.

Gray placed his hand on top of my hand and he squeezed it softly don't be to hard on yourself sis sure you made many mistakes but you were pardoned by helping us defeat the Alvarez Empire, I guess that you are right little brother just promise me that you won't make the same mistakes that I've made! I promise sis, Gray and I talked for a little bit before Gray and I fell asleep under the covers as siblings.
