Somehow, you've woken up in Kate's bed, thankfully you're not naked and she is not next to you. However, the mystery is, why the fuck am I in this bed?

You throw the covers off and to half surprise when you try to stand your legs nearly give out, well. That is not a good sign of anything. You stumble back onto the bed, fortunately able to sit up.

"Kate!?" You yell, your tone bordering on vicious.

After a few moments she replies into the door, "Oh you actually woke up." She enters.

"Actually?"

"Yeah, I accidentally knocked you out while sparring, thought you might be dead."

"Okay, you are not that strong." You break a laugh.

"Well, you're the one coming back from unconsciousness so." She shrugs entering the room further.

"Could have easily gone the other way." You scoff, attempting to stand again, and failing.

"Dude, stay in the bed, you're just gonna keep falling." She laughs, walking towards the edge of the bed.

"What time is it even, I've got shit to do."

"Like what, lose another fight?" She asks teasingly.

You deadpan at her, close but not quite joking.

"It's 2, you were out for like 15 minutes, relax." She sighs with a giggle and an ever-present smile.

"Okay, good." You slump your shoulders from their previously tense state.

"What do you have to do anyways?" She asks, falling into the bed herself.

"I was supposed to clean my car today."

"That's because you don't have a job, you're just filling time doing useless things?" She asks, letting herself slump all the way into the mattress on her back, badgering with you.

"You're literally the one who took my job away." You roll your eyes at her.

"Okay that is sort of true." She admits, meeting eyes with you.

"Get me some ibuprofen at least." You kick her from under the blanket.

"Okayyyy." She drags out, lazily hoisting herself back up and exiting the room, leaving you alone for a few moments.

Shit she makes a good friend, which sucks but not really cause the only other friend you have is Yelena anyways, and she is definitely not a good friend, but you can't really blame her.

Obviously, you've made a friend of Kate, and you've accepted that over this time, but damn it's hard to admit that, and it's hard to admit that you've felt so much peace leaving everything behind this past month. Everything you used to think you were completely dependent on you left behind so fast - not to say you didn't look back or you won't in the future because you have, and you will. But looking forward it isn't just a black hole anymore, it's a life and a future beyond the age of 25 and its promising. It's not anything like what you envisioned for yourself growing up or 3 months ago. But it's promising, it's not a dead end, it's light and it's experiencing things and it's living inside your skin instead of outside of it. It's feeling this fabric beneath you as soft instead of scratchy, it's seeing Kate enter this room without utter detestation and self-loathing but with kinder eyes.
