A/n: Warning: character death
/————————————————————/
The green lightning crackled through the air.
He heard her shout, saw her leap, but he could do nothing.
Time seemed to slow as he watched her small body crumple to the ground. His ears buzzed with his uncles angry shouts as he fell to his knees by her side.
"You foolish boy! Look what you've done!"Sebastian felt Anne's hand on his shoulder, heard her whispered question but all he could focus on was the girl he loved and her blank brown eyes.
"Jo...I-". He choked out. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't think. Gone, she was gone...because of him.
"You're going to Azkaban boy!" A rough hand grabbed him and pulled him into the darkness, Anne's forlorn cry following.
This was it. He should have listened.

It was dark when he found her.His voice shook as he held her limp hand. "You're so cold darling. It's okay...I-I've got you now."
Only hours ago she was warm, breathing, and fearless by his side. Fire radiating from her wand and her spirit. She was radiant...like an angel.
She had told him of a place, a place of peace where everything was bright, everything was pure and good. Heaven she had called it, as she leaned against his shoulder that clear starry night when he confided in her his fears about Anne.
Ominis dared to reach out trembling fingers, to trace along her face. To see her in a way he was too afraid to try before.
"Out of all the angels in Heaven you are the most beautiful. That I know."
He gently stroked her hair away from her icy cheek.
"Sleep well my star.....my light. And p-please, ...don't stop shining down on me."And finally the sound of sobs echoed off the walls.
————————————————
Rain poured from the sky, even the universe mourned her.
Only four remained by the freshly filled grave. Her two best friends, a cursed girl, and a boy who had loved her.
The fourth stood to the side, clutching a vial to her chest. Anne Sallow didn't know the girl. She'd only met her three times. And always those times ended faster than she'd liked. But the brave girl they were all here to honor knew about her. She knew and had loved her brother. She had risked her life for others countless times. And somehow in her free time she had managed to make a cure. Anne was sad she was gone.
"We finally were able to do it," Professor Fig had said, pressing it into her hand. "She was a wonderful girl, a wonderful daughter, I owe her my life." She noticed the ring on his finger. He patted her on the shoulder and looked around, "Where's your brother? I thought he'd be here." She swallowed, "He couldn't make it." He sighed, "That's a shame. They were close. So long Miss Sallow." And he took Johanna's mother's hand and left.
——————————————-
In the darkness of his grief, in the damp cell of Azkaban he waited. For what he didn't know.
Until he saw it. A silvery light like a patronus floating through his window in the shape of her.
When he reached out to touch her she vanished and he felt suddenly strong, thrumming with power.
"This is yours now," her voice whispered. "Prove to me you can change, finish what I started. You were always the main character. Choose today what you will be, a hero or a villain."
"I'll be a hero. Like you were."
"Good." A breeze kissed his cheek.
He opened his eyes to see her ethereal face once again in front of his own.
"I'm sorry." He murmured, a tear trailing through the grime on his cheek.
"I know." She smiled sadly, and tried to wipe it away.
"I loved you Jo."
"So did many."
A golden teardrop shone on her pale skin. "Tell Ominis I'm watching will you?"
"I promise."
And she vanished.

In an alternate universe there lives a trio of Slytherins in a small cottage near the sea.
Twins, one with Ancient Magic, one a curse breaker.
And a former blind man who watches the stars.
When questioned about the golden eagles all around their house, the blue and bronze items among the silver and green they'll just smile softly, glistening eyes holding fond memories.
"It's a reminder of her. The one time will forget. She who was like Saturn, a balance of light and dark. With her love she guides us even now."
They don't say how she died, though the freckled man's face grows darker and the others pale.
But every seven years, on a clear cool night, all three will turn their eyes to the sky. And there they see her, ringed and bright.
The stars shine brighter down on one, and his blonde hair glows like a halo.
He smiles as he waits for her message.
And tonight he utters, "She said I'm the angel, and she forgives you....Sebastian."
The end
