Phantom rocketed through the clouds watching the puffs of white streaming past.

She half expected her sister to pop up next to her scolding her for disappearing again.

Although it had been several years since the attack she still hadn't gotten used to the constant loneliness.

The fact that she'd never hug her mother or tease her sister.

Never go on family hunting trips or flights over the ocean at night.

She would never hear their voices or listen to their wingbeats ever again.

It was hard sometimes but it was harder when she forgot.

She forgot that they were gone sometimes and the life she had now felt normal.

It felt like the forever and the always.

Like that was all she ever had and all she ever would.

Boring but peaceful for the most part.

And then she'd remember all over again but this time with guilt for forgetting.

She spent her nights flying and hunting and her days sleeping.

It was quiet.

She avoided other dragons and never saw any Viking ships at night so it was peaceful.

Slightly lonely at times but peaceful.
