Days passed and It was Friday.
Friday evening had been tough for Andrew. He had returned from school with a heavy heart, the another fresh bruise on his arm a painful reminder of the cruelty he had faced. When Michael saw the mark and heard the quiet tremble in Andrew's voice as he recounted what had happened, something inside him snapped. His protective instincts flared up, and he could feel the anger boiling in his veins."They can't keep doing this to you, Andrew," Michael said through gritted teeth, his fists clenched at his sides. "They have no right."
Andrew, ever the peacemaker, had shaken his head quickly, his voice barely a whisper. "Please, Michael. Don't do anything. I don't want any more trouble. Just... let it go, okay?"
But Michael couldn't just let it go. His little brother was hurting, and he couldn't stand the thought of those bullies getting away with it. However, he also didn't want to upset Andrew further, so he reluctantly agreed to hold back—for now.
But the anger didn't dissipate. It simmered just beneath the surface, waiting for the slightest spark to ignite it.
Saturday arrived with clear skies and a tense atmosphere. The guardians, Mr. Harris and Mr. Thompson, were busy with their office work, tucked away in their respective rooms. They trusted the boys to behave, as they often did on weekends, and left them to their own devices.
Michael had been brooding all morning, replaying the events of the previous day over and over in his mind. He couldn't shake the image of Andrew's tear-streaked face or the bruise on his arm. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
As the morning wore on, Michael's unease turned into action. He wandered outside, where the other boys were hanging out, trying to keep his cool but feeling the anger growing with each step. It wasn't long before he spotted them—Mason and Lucas, standing over Andrew, who was on his knees, his face pale with fear.
This was it. The last straw.
Without a second thought, Michael charged toward them, his vision blurred with rage. "Get away from him!" he shouted, his voice echoing across the yard.
Mason and Lucas turned just in time to see Michael's fist flying toward them. The punch landed squarely on Mason's jaw, sending him stumbling backward. Lucas barely had time to react before Michael was on him too, fists swinging with a fury that had been building for far too long.
"Don't you ever touch him again!" Michael roared, his voice filled with all the anger and frustration he had been holding back. He didn't care about the consequences; all he cared about was making sure these boys never hurt Andrew again.
The commotion quickly drew the attention of the other boys. Daniel and Jacob, the oldest, rushed over, shouting at Michael to stop, but he was beyond reason. The fight escalated, with boys trying to pull Michael off Mason and Lucas, while others yelled for help.
It wasn't long before the noise reached the ears of Mr. Harris and Mr. Thompson. The guardians, hearing the chaos from their rooms, dropped what they were doing and ran outside.
"What in the world is going on here?" Mr. Harris shouted as he burst through the door, his eyes wide with shock at the scene before him.
"Michael, stop this right now!" Mr. Thompson commanded, his voice booming with authority.
But Michael didn't stop. His rage had taken over, and nothing mattered except making Mason and Lucas pay for what they had done to his brother. He ignored the guardians' orders, his fists still flying, landing blows that echoed through the yard.
Mr. Harris and Mr. Thompson exchanged a look of concern before stepping in themselves, grabbing Michael by the arms and pulling him away from the fight. It took both of them to restrain him, their faces a mix of disappointment and anger.
Michael struggled against their grip, still trying to reach Mason and Lucas, who were now cowering on the ground. "They deserved it!" he shouted, his voice raw with emotion.
