PHOENIX WAS in the front seat with Tyler, music blaring as they pulled up to the gas station. Boone was streaming on YouTube from the backseat, his head hanging out the window. "Hey Storm Par! We are live on YouTube!" he called as they drove by.
Phoenix looked over at Tyler, who was just smirking, and grinned before sticking her head out the window too. A group of people whistled and cheered upon seeing the brown-haired woman, and she tipped her cowboy hat to them.
"Hey, smile man! Science is fun, right?" Boone called to Scott, one of Storm Par's workers. "Boone" Phoenix warned, despite the fact that her eyes held a lifetime of amusement. Boone snickered as he got back inside the truck, flicking Phoenix's ear.
She turned around in her seat and punched him in the leg, resulting in a smacking fight that Tyler just cackled at. "God, y'all are stupid" he laughed and simultaneously, Boone and Phoenix looked at him, eyebrows raised. They smirked at each other before they both hit Tyler.
"Hey, I am driving!" he protested before parking the truck. Phoenix stuck her tongue out at Tyler before jumping out of the truck, mud splashing up her boots and legs. She made her way round to Tyler, who grabbed her hand and pulled her up to the outside of the truck.
He held the camera in one hand and wrapped an arm around her waist as he pointed the camera at himself and the crowd of people. "If you feel it!" he yelled. "Chase it!" the crowd cheered. "I said, if you feel it!" Tyler yelled louder this time. "Chase it!" the crowd practically screamed.
"Oh, it is a beautiful day. Ain't that right Nix?" Tyler spoke to the camera, his hand still gripping her waist. "Hell yeah baby!" she grinned, leaning into him more. Tyler smiled down at her, a flash of emotion in his eye that he quickly hid.

Kate couldn't help but admire the woman standing beside that cowboy. The way she held herself, the way she studied everything and everyone she looked at. The confidence with which she stood was something Kate wished she had.
Sure, Kate was confident in her abilities and instincts, but to be able to wear what that woman was, god what she would give. The low cut crop top that showed off the majority of her chest, the mid-thigh jeans that accentuated her thighs, the white cowboy hat that sat atop her head to match the boots she donned.
If there were pictures inside a dictionary, Kate was fairly certain that Phoenix's face would be beside the word 'stunning'.
The cheeky smile that pulled at her lips, the way her thumbs were looped into her belt, the way her eyes shone in the light, everything about her was perfect. And Kate knew she wanted, no needed, to be that woman's friend.
And damn, she looked so good standing next to that cowboy.
And so, when she walked over to Kate, the blonde woman smiled. "You're new" Phoenix spoke and Kate's smile widened. "Just working with them for the week" Kate nodded. "Saw you lookin' at me. Something you wanna say or?..." Phoenix smirked and Kate chuckled.
"Sorry for staring. Just admiring a fellow woman's beauty" Kate replied. "Ain't nothing wrong with that. Name's Phoenix" Phoenix held out her hand. "Kate" Kate replied, shaking the woman's hand. "So, what they got you doing?" Phoenix asked, pushing her hands into her pockets. "Don't see how that's any of your business, Nix" a male voice spoke as Kate opened her mouth.
Phoenix's eyes hardened and the smile dropped from her face as she turned around slowly, a glare settling into her eyes. And Kate took a step backwards. The eyes that once shone with warmth and familiarity now burned with an emotion that no word could explain.
