Tyler and Phoenix were out for drinks while the others were finding a place to camp out for the night, none of them wanting to get a motel. Phoenix was sipping her whiskey as Tyler sipped his beer, hearty laughs being exchanged between the two of them.
Neither of them were drunk, and neither of them planned on getting drunk either, which is why Phoenix frowned when she felt a familiar buzz in her head. "Hey, babe?" Phoenix asked, setting her drink down. "What's up?" Tyler put his drink down too, immediately concerned.
"Do you feel buzzed?" Phoenix asked, the buzz in her head getting stronger. "What? No, this is only my second beer. Do you?" Tyler frowned. "Yeah. Starting to feel something" she nodded. "That's weird. You're not that much of a lightweight, you've only had one glass" Tyler had his eyes on her, concern lacing them.
"Could you get me a water?" Phoenix asked after a moment. "Yeah, course. Wait here" Tyler nodded, standing up and walking towards the bar. Phoenix rested her head on her hand, rubbing her eyes for a moment.
She felt a hand grasp her bicep and pull her off her chair, startling her. "Jesus Tyler, chill out" she muttered as she was dragged out of the bar and into the parking lot. "Would you calm down? Tyler!" Phoenix ripped her arm out of the hold and her eyes went wide.
That wasn't Tyler.
"Who the hell are you?" Phoenix sneered, stepping backwards. "Shut up" the man reached forward and grabbed her hair, dragging her down to the floor. She grabbed at the arm, letting out screams and begs for help as she was pulled down the side of the building.
She was roughly thrown to the ground, a yelp emitting from her as her skin met the concrete. "What do you want?" she asked, crawling backwards. "What part of 'shut up' did you not understand?" the man growled, grabbing her ankle and pulling her towards him.
"No! Get off me! Tyler!" she screamed before her pleas for help were muffled by the man covering her mouth. "Any second now" the man whispered and Phoenix blinked rapidly a she felt waves of drowsiness wash over her.
"Tyler" she barely managed to whisper before her head lulled to the side, her eyes closed.
Inside, Tyler had just gotten the water and was heading back to the table to find that the table was empty. "Uh, excuse me? Did you see where the woman I was with went?" Tyler set the glass down and asked the table next to theirs. "Oh, her friend took her outside" the woman answered, clearly intoxicated.
Tyler straightened up, his head snapping to the direction of the door, and he rushed towards the bar. "Call 911. Police" he told the bartender and he nodded, turning away to grab the phone. Tyler ran out of the bar and stood in the parking lot, looking around.
"Nix! Phoenix!" he yelled, his hands on the back of his head in panic. He heard a metallic crash from the side of the bar and he quickly ran towards it, seeing a guy dragging Phoenix down the alleyway. "Hey!" Tyler yelled, running towards his fiancée.
"Shit" the guy muttered, looking over his shoulder before turning the corner. Tyler sprinted around the corner and was immediately hit round the face with a hard object. He crashed to the floor, blood dripping out of his mouth as he got to his hands and knees.
Two guys stood either side of him as another continued dragging Phoenix towards a black car. "Nix!" Tyler practically screamed before getting kicked in the stomach. He groaned and coughed loudly before receiving a kick to his ribs. The two men continued kicking Tyler and all he could do was watch as Phoenix was forced into the backseat of the car.
"No!" he yelled as he was getting kicked relentlessly.

Boone, Javi, and Kate pulled into the parking lot, heading inside. They looked around for Tyler and Phoenix but couldn't see them anywhere, so Kate went up to the bartender, who was clearly rattled. "Everything okay?" Kate asked. "Sorry, yeah. This guy just told me to call the police before running outside, screaming for his wife, I think it was" the bartender nodded.
"What was the name?" Kate asked, worry seeping through her words. "Uh, Phoenix?" the bartender answered. "Shit" Kate muttered before turning and running away, grabbing Boone's shoulder. "Phoenix is in trouble" was all Kate had to say for Boone and Javi to immediately sprint out of the bar.
"Tyler! Phoenix!"
"Fi!"
"Help!"
Their heads snapped to the direction to call came from and they all took off running down the side of the bar. When they rounded the corner, they saw two men mercilessly kicking Tyler, who laid on the ground.
Boone immediately tackled one of the guys as Kate grabbed the other, kneeing him in the balls. Javi noticed a guy closing the door to the car in front of him, and he ran towards it, tackling the guy. He landed two punches before getting off of him and opening the door, finding an unconscious Phoenix sprawled across the seats.
Just as Javi was about to grab her, the guy tackled him to the ground, punching him in the face. Javi groaned, temporarily dazed, but he saw the flash of something metallic before the guy fell to the side, unconscious. Kate stood there, a metal pole in hand, breathing heavy with a small cut on her cheek.
"Are you okay?" she asked worriedly, dropping the pole. "Phoenix" Javi said, scrambling to his feet and grabbing Phoenix, gently pulling her out of the car. "Nix!" Tyler's voice sounded broken as he dropped to his knees beside her, shaky hands pushing her hair out of her face.
"Baby, open your eyes" Tyler whispered, blood dripping down onto Phoenix's shirt. They heard the sound of police sirens getting closer and Kate and Javi ran to the parking lot, leaving Boone and Tyler with an unconscious Phoenix.
"Come on, Fi" Boone muttered, gripping one of her hands tightly in his. A hum escaped Phoenix's lips as her eyelids fluttered slightly, opening to reveal her chocolate brown eyes. "Ty?" Phoenix slurred. "Yeah, yeah it's me" Tyler smiled. "What happened to your face?" Phoenix breathed, reaching a hand up.
"Don't worry about me. You're okay now. Everything's gonna be okay" Tyler reassured, hiding the winces that escaped his lips.
"You sure you're alright, man?" Boone asked, placing a hand on Tyler's shoulder. "I'm uh...I'm..." Tyler's eyes fluttered shut as he tilted sideways, Boone barely catching him before he hit the ground. "Shit. JAVI!" Boone yelled, keeping his eyes on Tyler and Phoenix.
"Boone, what's wrong with him? What is it? Is he okay?" Phoenix started crying, her movements still sluggish as she pulled herself towards him. Javi and Kate came running back round the corner with police by their side. "Is he..." was all Phoenix managed to say before she passed out once more, her body going limp as she held Tyler's hand.
The police called for an ambulance as Kate held Phoenix, making sure the brunette was still alive, and thankfully, the engaged couple lived to see their wedding day.
