IT WAS raining hard when Phoenix and Tyler left the house. Tyler donned his cowboy hat before re-grasping Phoenix's hand as they walked towards the truck. The rain was soaking Tyler's white shirt, and Phoenix was shameless looking at him, rather, his body.
He said nothing, simply looking at her out the corner of his eye with an amused smirk on his face. He walked around to her side of the truck and opened her door for her before closing it behind her, heading to the driver's side and throwing his coat into the backseat.
The water dripped off of his hat as he sat there with one hand on the wheel, a look on his face that he rarely let anyone see. Phoenix placed her hand on his leg, squeezing gently in a reassurance that she wasn't going anywhere and he smiled at her, all traces of that expression gone.
He did, however, jump when Kate knocked on the window, causing Phoenix to snort with laughter. "Shut up" he pointed at her as he rolled down the window, causing her to laugh even more. "I swear to the gods, Phoenix Rae" Tyler tried to remain serious but couldn't help but smile at her, shaking his head.
He turned to Kate, who was simply smiling at the two. "You said you could get a new model running?" she asked. Tyler looked slightly startled at first before nodding. "Yes, ma'am" he smiled. Kate grinned, rather happy with herself as Tyler looked to Phoenix.

"So, this is an EF1, perfect conditions. Run your experiment, see if it works" Tyler got the laptop set up as Kate looked at intently. "Okay, so, um, fifteen hundred kilos of polymer absorbing three hundred times its weight" Kate said.
"So it's, uh, four hundred and fifty thousand kilos of precipitation loaded into our water-filled polymer to load the updraft. Let's see how the model responds" Tyler said before clicking 'start'.
"Buoyancy of the rising air is reducing" Kate observed. "It's reducing" Tyler repeated. "Slowing the updraft" Phoenix pointed out. "Temp is going down" Kate said. "Kate? Kate, in theory, this should've worked" Tyler smiled. "In theory" Kate nodded, smiling up at Tyler.
"But it wasn't an EF1 that day. I mean...we never had a chance" Kate said solemnly, looking back at the screen. "You want one?" Phoenix and Tyler spoke in sync, looking at Kate. "Don't ever do that again" Kate looked between the two, who smiled, again in sync. "Or that!" she chuckled before her eyes drifted to the containers up high on the shelves.
"I'm gonna take that as a yes. Alright, you're up, big strong man" Phoenix clapped Tyler on the back and he gave her a bitch face. She smiled sweetly at him and he rolled his eyes, huffing as he walked towards them. "How much do these weigh?" he asked, his hands on his hips. "A lot" Kate replied and Phoenix could see Tyler mocking her.
"Ten bucks he can't pick one up" Phoenix whispered to Kate, who smirked at her. "Oh, you're on" they aggressively shook hands before standing side by side and crossing their arms, watching Tyler.

"Kate, a deal is a deal! Pay up!" Phoenix shouted playfully.
"No, you never specified how far he had to pick it up! He got it off the ground!" Kate argued back.
"You knew exactly what I meant!" Phoenix protested.
"It's not my fault you weren't specific in your terms. He lifted it off the ground, which means I win. Pay up" Kate replied and Phoenix groaned loudly.
"Fuck you" Phoenix muttered as she threw a ten dollar bill into Kate's face.
"Thank you kindly" Kate smiled back at her and Phoenix flipped her off.
