Eventually Hunter couldn't keep her from going on missions for long. She still wasn't fully healed yet, but when they got an urgent call from Rex, she insisted on going along. Hunter barely had let her, and the only deciding factor was that Tech had cleared her to go on missions.
Hunter was already not on board with the mission, thinking they shouldn't risk themselves for someone they didn't know, with so little information.
Kiv approached Hunter, who was sitting in a chair in the cockpit. The others were elsewhere on the Marauder, leaving them completely alone.
"Hunter," she said, forcing him to look up at her. "You know we have to do this."
Hunter rolled his eyes, standing up to tower over her. "I don't like it."
"I know you don't," Kiv said, standing close enough to him that their fingers would brush every couple seconds. "But we have to. It's a friend of Rex's. You'd do the same for me."
His face softened. "Of course I would-"
"So do it for me," Kiv whispered.
Hunter sighed, but then a small smirk grew on his face. "You're not doing some Jedi trick on me, right?"
She shrugged. "You'll never know," she said, turning to leave the cockpit. Before she left, she turned back to Hunter, who was intently watching her go. "But I don't have to. You do anything I say," she grinned, leaving the room.
Hunter chuckled, sitting back down.
Kiv was starting to catch on to him. He was overprotective over her in a way he was with no one else. He was softer with her, and he would lose his composure if she teased him just the tiniest bit.
He was falling for her, and she was starting to catch on.
And she was falling for him. When she was captured all she wanted was Hunter. She wanted his comfort, his touch, anything. But she wanted him safe and safety was far away from her.
Echo was smirking at her as she left the cockpit. She rolled her eyes at him.
"We're approaching Daro's atmosphere," Tech announced from the pilot's seat. "I'll bring us in low to avoid any possible tracking scanners."
Hunter was still cautious. "We're banking a lot on a clone we don't even know."
"Rex trusts him," Echo retorted. "And I trust Rex."
"Me too," Kiv said, bumping Hunter's shoulder.
They exited the ship not long after, Kiv holding a cautious hand over her lightsaber.
Hunter put his helmet on and then hit her lightly in the arm, still being cautious of her not fully healed wounds. "You keep that away." She rolled her eyes.
"Sure, Hunter," she chuckled, stepping up and surveying the surroundings.
"The signal is coming from that direction," Tech announced. "The beacon should be right ahead."
Omega quickly ran forward, pulling the beacon off of a fallen tree. "Found it!"
"So, where's this reg?" Wrecker asked. It was exactly what Kiv had just been wondering.
Hunter stepped forward, doing that thing he does when he tracks. He took his helmet off, picking up a stick and smelling it. "We're already too late," he concluded. "The clone was being hunted. He was dragged... That way." He ran forward, Kiv following immediately behind.
"Hang on," Hunter said, dropping to the ground. Kiv stumbled, almost falling on top of him. "There's something here," he continued, unaware of Kiv standing almost on top of him. "Inside that mountain."
