Just hours later, Kiv fussed over him for the first time.
She had been trying to fall asleep in the co-pilot's chair, sitting next to Hunter as they traveled through hyperspace, but she was pulled out of her focus by the tiniest noise. He had winced, and though she had barely heard it, it still woke her up fully. Hunter shifted in his chair, seeming to not be able to get comfortable.
"You alright?" Kiv asked, sitting up.
Hunter grunted. "I'm fine."
Kiv sighed, standing up. "Let's see it."
"There is no 'it'," he argued.
She grabbed his hand, pulling him up from the chair. He protested, pointing at the ship's controls. "The ship will be fine for a few minutes without you. Come on."
Hunter reluctantly followed along behind her into the Marauder's bathroom. He closed the door behind them, trying to maximize the space of the tiny room. It really didn't fit the two of them well.
Hunter stood before Kiv, his arms crossed. She gestured towards him, ordering him to take his shirt off. He rolled his eyes at her, pulling off the top half of his blacks, leaving him shirtless. When he looked back down at her, she was flushing, looking closely at something. His tattoo...
"It's not just your face," she muttered.
"No, it is not," Hunter said, reminding her that he was right there. Her head snapped back up to him, her face flushing pink.
"Turn," she ordered, and he followed, rolling his eyes. There, along his back was a gigantic bruise, due to some bump or fall during their escape from Kamino. He heard her grimace.
"It's not that bad," he argued.
She reached over, grabbing the med kit and getting to work. She ran her fingers along the bruise, sending a shiver down Hunter's spine. He recovered, watching her in the mirror as she worked. She made this face when she focused that Hunter thought was adorable. He could tell she was trying not to hurt him, which put an ache in his heart. What he would give to be able to turn around and just kiss her. To grab her face and know it was his to kiss alone. He wanted to trace her scars, and to show her his full tattoo.
She finished what she was doing, making eye contact with him in the mirror. She raised an eyebrow.
"Got something to say, Sarge?" she said, smirking.
"No, ma'am," he responded, turning around. He towered over her, especially in this tiny bathroom. He reached past her, hoping his attempts to fluster her would work, as he grabbed the top half of his blacks.
Kiv looked up at him through her eyebrows, not letting herself get flustered. She could tell what he was doing. She decided to turn the tables.
She reached forward, looking at his tattoo. "This is really cool," she said, starting to trace along the skeleton. After a few moments she looked up at him, finding her tactic to be successful. She then pulled her hand away, much to his dismay, and walked past him out of the bathroom.
