Much to Daya's surprise: No, New York City is not the place where dreams come true.

There's a lot of poverty. A lot of people who want to see you fail. And jobs that simply don't pay enough to keep the lights on. Daya wasn't sure what she was thinking when she moved there. She was just blinded by the dream of making it big.

At least splitting the rent with her filmmaker roommate, Camden, makes it easier to keep their apartment. But even that is barely just enough. Especially when it's winter and you have to keep a heater on.

But it's not all bad. Because there's a very pretty girl who lives just downstairs. One who Daya absolutely refuses to talk to because she's just too pretty and she doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of her. So she'll admire her from a distance.

That goal is thrown out the window though when Daya goes out for a night of no stress with Camden. The bright lights and loud music are somewhat helping drown out all the negative emotions. And then Daya sees their downstairs neighbor onstage.

Very very loosely based on Rent. Mainly just the setting and some character traits. This one should be a little fun.
