School was hectic.

More hectic than usual.

A few months ago, before Dontae's ultimatum, I used to have the privilege of walking into the school and being completely invisible. But ever since I branched out and became the school's weekly gossip, that has changed drastically.

It seems like everywhere I go there's someone lurking somewhere, just waiting to dish out some ‘interesting’ news about me.

“Did you hear that she was in the hospital?” A male voice whispered from the line of lockers on my left. Attesting to the thoughts that just ran through my mind.

“I heard it's because she's a crackhead,” a female voice countered.

I turned sideways to see Bella's friend that was with her that day when I had gotten into an uncivilized brawl with the oh so mighty wicked witch of the west.

“Wow, looks like ‘Little Miss Rich Girl’ can't handle her little rich girl problems. I bet she broke a nail and decided to crash her car.”

A self-righteous titter tumbled out after that heartless snigger.

I'm not going to lie. That statement hurt. It hurt even more knowing that that bird nest of a head girl Bella had probably already heard about the path of misfortune that I seem to leave in my wake. But I promised myself that I wouldn't let the harsh words or the scornful looks get to me this morning before I left home.

Last night was already a huge mess with my parents and a certain someone that I don't think deserved my anger at all.

I sighed and continued the walk to my class.

I will just have to get through the day.

Stay positive Vannessa.

With that thought, I pushed my chin up, adjusting the books and pencil case in my hand. Ignoring the gossip filling the atmosphere as I wafted through the hallways.

“Oh Sean, you are so cute, I can't stop staring at you. I know that some people don't like our relationship but what can we do when we're so in love?”

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes in my head like marbles spinning uncontrollably at the nasally voice bothering my ears.

“Love, you know we can't show any public display of affection in class. It draws unwanted attention.”

It's been like this for the past half an hour. These two ‘lovesick’ fools have been annoying the heck out of me all afternoon. But I've been determined to not let them get to me. I don't even remember these two being in the same French class as me.

I had managed to keep my head straight for most of the session. But it’s becoming increasingly harder each passing second. And if it continues like this, I might end up retching and coughing up some very disgusting bodily fluid from my stomach.

I'm surprised I had handled everything so well for so long.

My hand stretched upwards.

Hawk-eyed eyes of brilliant sky blue landed on me.

“Miss Walters. Would you like to add something more to the lesson being taught?”

“Yes, Miss Myers.” I cleared my throat exaggeratedly. “I would like to emphasize the fact that there is a chart in the class that strictly restricts us against talking in class.”
