The thrill of sneaking out with Bokuto had become a nightly ritual for Akaashi, a small rebellion against the suffocating pressure of his life at home. The stolen moments with Bokuto were the only times he felt like he could breathe, even if they came with the constant fear of getting caught.

That night, as they wandered the quiet streets together, Akaashi's heart ached with a longing he couldn't fully articulate. The fear of being discovered weighed heavily on him, but the thought of facing the night alone, without Bokuto, was even worse.

"Do you... want to come back with me?" Akaashi asked hesitantly as they walked toward his neighborhood. His voice was barely above a whisper, as if speaking the words too loudly would make the offer disappear.

Bokuto's eyes lit up with surprise and excitement. "Are you sure? I mean, what if we get caught?"

Akaashi shrugged, trying to appear more confident than he felt. "We'll be careful. You can stay in my room, and I'll sneak you out before anyone wakes up."

Bokuto grinned, his enthusiasm infectious. "Alright, let's do it!"

They approached Akaashi's house with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The darkened windows and the quiet stillness of the night made the house seem almost menacing, but Akaashi pushed the feeling aside. He wanted this—wanted Bokuto with him, even if just for a little while longer.

Akaashi carefully opened the window, gesturing for Bokuto to follow him inside. Bokuto slipped through with surprising ease, his athleticism making the climb look effortless. Once inside, they both held their breath, listening for any signs of movement in the house. When the silence remained unbroken, Akaashi let out a sigh of relief.

"You can hide in the closet," Akaashi whispered, pointing to the small space near his bed. "Just in case."

Bokuto nodded, a mischievous grin on his face. "Got it. But you owe me for making me hide in there."

Akaashi rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help the small smile that tugged at his lips. "Just get in before someone hears us."

Bokuto slipped into the closet, closing the door behind him just as Akaashi heard footsteps approaching. His heart leapt into his throat as he quickly climbed into bed, pulling the covers up to his chin, trying to look as though he had been asleep the entire time.

The door creaked open, and Akaashi's father stepped inside, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the room. Akaashi could feel his pulse racing, his heart pounding so loudly he was sure his father could hear it.

"Keiji," his father said, his voice low and suspicious. "Where have you been?"

"I—I haven't been anywhere," Akaashi stammered, trying to keep his voice steady. "I've been in bed the whole time."

His father's gaze swept over the room once more, lingering for a moment on the window before finally settling on Akaashi. "You expect me to believe that?"

Akaashi nodded, his stomach twisting in knots. "Yes, I'm... I'm just tired. Can we talk about this in the morning?"

For a long moment, his father didn't move, didn't say a word. Akaashi could feel the tension thick in the air, like a storm about to break. But then, finally, his father sighed and stepped back toward the door.

"We will talk in the morning," his father said, his tone leaving no room for argument. "And if I find out you've been lying to me..."

He didn't finish the sentence, but he didn't need to. Akaashi knew exactly what the consequences would be if he was caught.

As soon as his father left the room and the door clicked shut, Akaashi let out a shaky breath, the tension draining out of him. He waited a few moments, making sure the coast was clear, before getting out of bed and opening the closet door.

Bokuto tumbled out, barely stifling his laughter as he rolled onto the floor. "That was way too close!" he whispered, his voice bubbling with amusement.

Akaashi couldn't help but smile, the adrenaline still pumping through his veins. "You're lucky he didn't open the closet."

"You're lucky he didn't notice how loud your heart was pounding," Bokuto teased, grinning up at him.

Akaashi couldn't help but laugh, the absurdity of the situation hitting him all at once. Here they were, sneaking around like they were characters in a bad teen drama, hiding from his parents in the middle of the night. But as he looked at Bokuto, his grin wide and unbothered, Akaashi felt a strange sense of comfort in the chaos.

"Get up," Akaashi whispered, holding out a hand to help Bokuto to his feet. "You're staying until morning, but you have to be quiet."

Bokuto took his hand, pulling himself up with a smile. "Deal. But next time, we're doing this at my place."

"Next time?" Akaashi raised an eyebrow, though he couldn't help but smile at the thought.

"Of course," Bokuto said, his voice full of confidence. "I'm not letting this little adventure be our last."

They settled onto the bed, Bokuto lying beside Akaashi, both of them staring up at the ceiling in silence for a moment. The thrill of the night, the kiss they shared, and the close call with Akaashi's father all swirled together in Akaashi's mind, creating a whirlwind of emotions.

But as Bokuto's hand found his under the covers, Akaashi felt a sense of calm wash over him. For now, they were safe, together, and that was enough.

Akaashi turned his head to look at Bokuto, who was already watching him with that same soft smile. "Thanks for coming over," Akaashi whispered, his voice barely audible in the quiet room.

"Anytime," Bokuto whispered back, giving Akaashi a reassuring kiss.

As they drifted off to sleep, the worry of what tomorrow might bring faded into the background. In this moment, with Bokuto by his side, Akaashi felt a little less alone, a little more hopeful. And that was more than enough for now.
