The night was unnervingly quiet as Bokuto made his way to Akaashi's house, the cool air biting at his skin. He knew this was risky—beyond risky—but he couldn't stand the distance anymore. He needed to see Akaashi, even if it was only for a few moments.
He approached the familiar house, his heart racing as he saw Akaashi's bedroom window slightly ajar. A part of him worried about what might happen if they were caught, but that worry was quickly overridden by the desire to be with Akaashi. After everything they had been through, Bokuto felt like they were standing on the edge of something that could either bring them closer or tear them apart completely.
Climbing up to the window with practiced ease, Bokuto hesitated for just a moment before knocking lightly on the glass. The window slid open almost immediately, revealing Akaashi's tense face.
"Bokuto," Akaashi whispered, his eyes wide with a mix of surprise and fear. "What are you doing here? My parents could wake up at any moment."
"I know," Bokuto replied softly, sliding through the window and into the room. "But I had to see you, Keiji. I couldn't just stay away, not after everything."
Akaashi's expression softened, and he sighed, closing the window behind Bokuto. "I missed you too," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "But you can't keep doing this. If they catch us..."
"I don't care," Bokuto cut him off gently, stepping closer. "I don't care what they say or do, Keiji. I care about you. I just want to be with you, even if it's only for a few minutes."
Akaashi's resolve wavered as Bokuto's words hit him, the sincerity in his eyes making it hard to argue. For a moment, the weight of everything—the fear, the pressure, the overwhelming sense of doom—faded into the background, leaving only the two of them standing there in the dimly lit room.
They sat on the edge of Akaashi's bed, the silence between them heavy but comfortable. Bokuto reached out, taking Akaashi's hand in his own, his thumb brushing gently over Akaashi's knuckles.
"Keiji," Bokuto began, his voice soft but steady, "I know things are tough right now, and I know your parents... well, they don't understand. But I want you to know that I'm here for you. No matter what happens, I'll always be here."
Akaashi's heart twisted painfully in his chest. "Bokuto, you don't understand. They'll ruin everything if they find out about us. My mom... she's already threatened me. If they catch us, it'll be over."
Bokuto shook his head, determination shining in his eyes. "We'll find a way. I'm not going to let them take you away from me, Keiji."
The words hung in the air between them, heavy with meaning. Akaashi looked at Bokuto, his emotions a tangled mess of fear, longing, and love. In that moment, despite everything, he couldn't help but lean in, closing the small distance between them.
Bokuto's breath hitched as their lips met, the kiss tender and slow, a fleeting escape from the storm brewing around them. Akaashi's hand tightened around Bokuto's, the other coming up to rest against his chest, feeling the steady thump of his heartbeat beneath his palm.
For a few precious seconds, the world outside didn't exist. There were no angry parents, no threats, no fear—just them, together in this fragile bubble of time.
But the moment shattered all too soon.
The sound of footsteps thundered up the stairs, the doorknob rattling violently as someone tried to open it.
"Akaashi!" his mother's voice rang out, sharp and furious. "What's going on in there?"
Akaashi and Bokuto sprang apart, their hearts racing as panic set in. Bokuto barely had time to move before the door was thrown open, and Akaashi's parents stormed in.
