Malikai
"Every fucking bullet yuh use need fi mek sense, yuh tink a suh this bomboclaat guh?" Scamma kiss him teeth, lighting his spliff. We deh a di office in A-Town a try solve problems and save lives as usual.
Scamma's apprentice, Chef---name suh cause him use to be a chef, apparently thought it was smart fi rob and shoot smaddy last night. Now, the victim isn't dead, but it could have gone that way, at which point mi woulda affi kill dah bredda ya fi a bring heat to mi business, robbing and killing innocent people and just rass giving me more problems than he's worth. Scamma woulda bex.
So, now I'm seated at my desk watching Scamma trying to scold a twenty five year old boy, with three gold chains round him neck inna a mesh marina, who clearly nuh understand the game he has entered.
Scamma has come a long way. Him used to do dem fuckry yaa to. Usually I stay out of his way when he manages the man dem-and di gyal dem pon we team, but this was a special case.
Smaddy almost dead because a him greed. My mind wasn't really even in the room right now. If I'm completely honest, I'm also here to avoid being home.
When I came home from Devon House with the kids, I found baby girl asleep and I couldn't...I jus' couldn't do it dweet.
I had every intention of going against my worse judgments...Ollie and Scamma's advice, too.
I cheated.
And mi know...mi just know she nah go tek it jus' suh. Worse like how mi tell are lie pon top of it.
Mi mek fi tell ar...I had every intention...but then mi guh see ar with Jaxn. Mi might fuck up right now, but I'm no fool. Mi know any slip mi slip, a Jaxn dat a guh try slide in.
Mi a man, and mi know man. Once yuh what a girl dat nuh just guh weh because yuh have smaddy. Worse him love ar and they are are thick as thieves. I know that we are cordial now for Ana and the kids sake. I also know he loves my kids and they...them love him.
Mi chest start feel tight all of a sudden.
If Jaxn know wah good fi him...matta a fact if any bombohole eva try it-
"Bossy, di man attack mi, mi did affi defend miself." Chef begged, taking me from my thoughts.
"Oye, none a dat nuh matta idiot!' Scamma kiss him teeth. "Juvenile, yuh affi guh deal wid the consequences a yuh actions enuh."
"But Bossy-"
"Let him go," I sighed under my breath. Bothba dem look pon me in shock. As a matter of fact Scamma looked like him bout fi cry fi some reason. Dawg, a suh yuh well wah fuck up smaddy?
"Malikai, the hell yuh mean, bro?" Scamma asked. "Weh yuh mean let him go?"
"Mi seh weh mi seh, doh?"My tone was serious...but all the while I'm just staring at my phone Screensaver again...
Di fuck mi really do? After all these years...after everyting...
It's like mi still can't believe it.
Drunk or not, a nuh like me did eva interested inna such girl. It nuh only feel like a waste a fuck, mi feel foolish. Like di biggest idiot out here.
"Unno can come out now still," I say absentmindedly.
"But Malikai-"
"Scamma, mi seh a ting, doh?" Mi look up pon him with every bit a seriousness...and him know mi nuh inna di rass mood either.
Him look pon mi like him wah seh supn else, but then just nodded grabbing up Chef by his arm and walking out the office.
I don't even have the mental capacity to keep thinking about this shit with Chef or nothing fi do with A-Town business.
