"Tanjiro!" She saw the three kids fighting Daki.
"YES?"
"We need to decapitate them both at once!" She spun her swords in her hand, "you and I will chop his head while Inosuke and Zenitsu deal with her."
"I, the God of Mountains, will behead her!" Inosuke was all over the place as usual.
"That's what I'd like to hear." She said, "find an opening while I keep him busy and go for his head."
"Got it!"
"No matter how much you plan, you cannot keep up with-"
"Shut up," her red eyes bared Gyutaro's soul when she swung her blades at him. They fought through the entertainment district with such intensity that Tanjiro could barely keep up with them.
Gyutaro was physically larger, but she pushed him back as much as she could. Her sword skills had visibly improved from the last time she fought a demon.
"You seem to have a natural talent for this, unlike me who had to train for a thousand years!"
"Shut your trap! I trained until I passed out every single day! Natural talent, my ass!"
Tanjiro could only see sparks as they fought, and the two were all over the place. He was worried that he wouldn't be able to find an opening, "She's so cool! How is she keeping up with him? I need to behead him soon, I need to find-"
"Don't hesitate!" She said and he jumped when he saw the first opening. When Gyutaro's face formed a smile, she knew he'd go for Tanjiro, "TANJIRO!" She pulled him back, only for his sickle to rip through the skin of her arm.
"MIYUKI SAN!"
"It's only a minute before she dies."
"Oh, crap. His sickles are poisoned." She groaned as her arm began turning purple, "I need you take over until I stop the poison from spreading."
"Got it." Tanjiro was shaking in his bones but he knew that he had to do it, "Don't overthink," she said, trying to get her breathing under control, "U-Understoood!"
"Breathe..." she said even though she was finding it a little difficult to breathe, "keep your head up, and... I can't believe I'm saying this... use your flashiest moves. I'm right behind you." It was a big gash and she did get some of it under control, but she didn't know how she would manage fighting him while using her breathing to keep the poison from spreading.
"Ugh, I don't have a choice," she groaned while trying to push herself up, "I need to defeat him if I have to defeat those three," she stretched a little before taking her stance and attacked Gyutaro the first chance she got. She saw that Tanjiro was in the way of the trajectory of his sickles again and pushed him out of the way with her leg while almost simultaneously using her swords to deviate the sickles from their path.
"YOU CAN'T FULLY STOP THE POISON FROM SPREADING NOW, CAN YOU? IT IS VERY POTENT AFTER ALL!" He picked up on her dulling movements.
"I will behead you if it's the last thing I do," she charged at him with full force, the sound of her breathing making Tanjiro stop from interfering, "what is she doing???" He hadn't seen her Hinokami Kagura before. She'd already fought with him for hours, he saw how her eyes were dulling with every passing minute.
"MIYUKI SAAAAAAAN!" He knew she was reaching her limit because of the poison, he knew that if he hadn't gotten in the way, she would've managed to keep him at bay.
"Hinokami Kagura..." She softly said as her blade sparked.
.
.
.She immediately pulled back a little when she felt someone get in between.
Tengen had intervened in the flashiest possible way, his big nichirin swords swinging at full intensity, his attack sending Gyutaro flying in a second, "don't think you can get away with injuring my student with your filthy melody! UNFLASHY!"
He quickly turned around and put his arm around Miyuki to keep her from falling backwards, "are you alright??!"
"Why are you here?" She thought it was the poison making her see things.
"I brought you the antidote," he quickly injected it into her arm and that's when he saw the gash, "what the hell is this now," he taped her hand up to stop the bleeding, "you're not Hashira material yet! Dumbass!"
"ITS MY FAULT! I GOT IN THE WAY! She managed it by herself."
"Kamado?" He looked at him for a second before getting furious, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS YOUR FAULT??! SHE COULD'VE DIED! WEAKLING!"
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"
"Since when do you go on missions?" She asked as he knelt to scoop her into his arms, "I don't. But I didn't want you to die either."
That was a first.
"Once the antidote starts working, get out of here. It'll get ugly." He didn't express much emotion but only he knew how pissed he was, "get to safety and leave this to me."
"Tanjiro, get her out of here. I'll deal with this."
"Okay!" He helped her up and walked towards safety, "Tanjiro, I feel better now."
"No, we need to get you to Shinobu san as quic-"
"Stop," she said, "I can fully stop it with my breathing now. The antidote is helping, I just need a minute."
"But Uzui san said you can't fight!"
"Give me a minute." She sat down to use her earth breathing and total concentration, the purple stain on her body slowly started dulling after a minute.
Tengen and Gyutaro had already started their fight, and my was it massive, "I'VE FIGURED OUT YOUR FILTHY MELODY, THANKS TO MY MINION! NOW WE GO FOR THE WIN!" He was tackling every one of Gyutaro's attacks.
"I wish I could do something!" Tanjiro said, "I wish I was stronger! I wish I could-"
"Tanjiro..." she softly said, regaining her composure. As the poison drained from her body, she felt like she was going back to being the person she was before she married Sanemi - nonchalant, blunt and condescending.
And when Tanjiro looked at her helplessly, she saw how devastated and disappointed he was. She saw her old self in him, she remembered what Rengoku told her, and she remembered that he was just like her.
"Yes?"
"Do you want to chop his head off?"
"I DO!"
"Well then," her soft sinister smile and her deep red eyes pierced through his very soul, "let me teach you how it's done."
