(I added a MV that I think matches this chapter. 🥹)
Over the next few days, Jimin and Su-min have been taking turns making sure one of them is always with Jin. Trying to keep him from falling into a deep depression.
And Taehyung relieves them when he gets there. Lately, they've just been spending quiet nights together. Not talking too much. But enjoying the comfort of having the other there.
The day comes when Jin has to meet with the attorney who is in charge of Jin's parents assets. Which is really just the house that he grew up in.
Jimin accompanies him but waits outside the office while they meet.
Jin sits stoically in his chair, wishing more than anything that he would rather have his mother back.
"Seokjin-ah, I don't know if you had ever spoken with your mother regarding her insurance policy. Or if you were even aware that she had one. In fact, both your parents were very well insured. Your mother was able to live a nice, quiet life without any money issues because of your father's payout after his passing. And your mother wanted the same for you in case she had to leave you suddenly.
After that business that happened to you, she made no secret how she felt about your husband and feared that he would leave you high and dry. Without a way to care for your children. So she doubled her insurance policy, just to make sure you and your children were safe."
Jin furrowed his brows in confusion. "What? My eomma had a life insurance?"
The attorney smiled widely and nodded. "Yes, on top of inheriting the family home and the land it's on. You are the sole beneficiary of her life insurance and the money she still has in the bank. She didn't spend all of your father's insurance money."
Jin sat wide eyed for a good while. Letting everything sink in. He couldn't believe that his mother had the foresight to plan for his future. His mother was truly an angel.
Overwhelmed by the news, he breaks down and sobs. He covers his face with both hands, unable to control his emotions.
Jimin busts through the door upon hearing Jin's sobs and asks panicked, "What happened? What's going on?"
Jin looks up and smiles at him. "Jimin, my eomma had a life insurance policy. He just let me know that I am the sole beneficiary."
"Whoa.. really? Not to sound crass. But how much exactly?"
Jin turns to look at the attorney, who then tells him, "It's enough for you not to worry about money for many years to come. Like I said, she made wise choices."
Jimin sat next to Jin and said, "That's wonderful news. Isn't it? You don't have to worry about anything. You can devote your time to raising Su-min. I'm sure she'd love that."
Jin nods with a smile. "My eomma was an actual angel. I am really going to miss her."
After finalizing all the necessary paperwork, Jin and Jimin left the attorneys office feeling a mixture of sadness and awe. The news of receiving the insurance payout eased some of Jin's immediate worries. But he's hit with a dose of reality when he thinks of the first person he'd share the news with is really gone forever.

That evening, Jimin decides to take Su-min along with him on his date with Namjoon to the movies. Leaving Jin alone with Taehyung.
As they sat eating their dinner, Tae asked him, "So I know we haven't talked about it. Especially after losing your mother suddenly. But I was wondering what your plans were.. you know. For the future."
