So in the end you did find Muichiro's crow. On a stick, almost about to be cooked by Inosuke.
And now it was apparently your responsibility to give it back to him.
But you didn't argue since you didn't want to end up in the same position as Inosuke right now, Aoi's scoldings were on a whole different level.
"But where am I even supposed to find that goldfish? What if he's sleeping in some pond again?" You muttered to yourself as you left the gates of the butterfly mansion.
"He's probably at the field next to his estate right now- KAWWWWGHH!" The crow suddenly squaked before screeching the very next second as you tossed the basket it was in.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR-" "YOU CAN TALK?!" You cut the crow off, the very next second it began flying and tried to peck you.
"OF COURSE I CAN TALK! WHO DO YOU THINK I AM?!" The crow continued squaking endlessly while trying to peck you repeatedly before you snatched it.
"Right. The corps has messenger crows, I forgot." You muttered before putting the crow back in the basket and going to the field the crow had mentioned.
And sure enough, you found him lying on the grass in the field, just gazing at the sky when you suddenly popped up in his view, but he didn't flinch or anything.
"Here." You handed him his crow back.
"... Thanks." He said with a small nod after a moment of silence, his expression still cold and unreadable.
He didn't even bother to ask you why you had taken his crow in the first place.
You were about to walk away when he suddenly spoke up again.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked, his voice filled with a hint of curiosity.
"What is it?" You questioned, turning back to hi.What could this goldfish have to tell you now?
"Why did you take my crow? Did you think it was cute?" Muichiro asked, his voice still emotionless but there was a slight hint of amusement in his tone.
"I know you don't really like me, but I didn't think you would steal my crow just for that reason." He continued, his eyes narrowing slightly as he stared at you.
"... Huh?" You asked in utter confusion.
What made him think you stole his crow? Was he just messing with you right now or what?
Muichiro just continued to stare at you, his eyes boring into yours as if he was trying to see through you.
"I'm not joking." He said, his tone becoming more serious.
"You took my crow. Why else would you have it if you didn't want it for yourself?" He asked, his expression still unreadable.
'... This dumbass...' What kind of stupid misunderstanding was this?!
Yeah sure, he's annoying and all, but you wouldn't steal his crow because of that!
"Look, goldfish. I think you're misunderstanding something here..." You held your hand out as you sighed while massaging your temple.
Muichiro didn't say anything, he just continued to stare at you, waiting for you to continue.
He seemed to be taking your explanation seriously, which was surprising since he was usually so dismissive.
"I didn't steal your crow, I was just returning it to you. Inosuke was trying to cook it." You explained, hoping that would clear things up.
Muichiro just continued to stare at you, his expression unchanged. You could tell that he was still suspicious of you, but he didn't say anything else.
