"Get up sleepy head."

Muichiro practically yanked Genya off of the bed, waking him up immediately.

"Whatttttttt."

He grumbled, eyes barely open.

"We gotta get going, y'know, saving the world from the literal apocalypse and stuff?"

Genya groaned in annoyance.

"Five more minutes."

"Nope, get your ass up right now."

"Or what?"

"Or I beat the shit out of you. Your choice."

....

Shinobu had gathered everyone together before they set out, explaining everything that was going to happen. Everyone was to go out in pairs, and would be assigned something to retrieve. They were to go straight to the destination, grab as much of the assigned material and come straight back.

The group had an odd number, as Shinobu would be staying at the butterfly mansion, so she had suggested the third person join with one of the duos. Shinjuro had simply grumbled he could go by himself, and went outside for a drink.

Shinobu didn't even try to stop him. Muichiro was pretty sure she wanted him to die.

The pairs had been decided to be:

Muichiro and Genya

Tanjiro and Inosuke

Zenitsu and Kanao

Mitsuri and Obanai

Giyuu and Sanemi

And Shinjuro on his own, so he could hopefully walk into his own demise.

Looking at the lineup, Muichiro wondered if anything was actually going to get done, or if everyone would be too busy simping over each other to remember the actual goal here.

The only group that could that might get anything done would be Tanjiro and Inosuke, and even then Muichiro couldn't tell if Tanjiro had a thing for Kanao or Inosuke.

Kanao would definitely be able to get this done, but being paired with Zenitsu wouldn't be doing her any favors.

When they walked through the garden, Muichiro swore he saw Shinjuro doing what looked like talking to himself, or maybe the bushes?

He was either drunk or going insane, Muichiro decided. Either was good enough for him.

He turned back towards Genya.

"You got the directions?"

Genya held up the small piece of paper in his hands.

"yep."

"Lead the way."

....................................

Muichiro was going to murder Shinobu.

Well, not really. It wasn't her fault.

When Genya had cheerfully announced they had reached their assigned area, Muichiro had immediately recognized the intricate alleyways, the wide open area, and the burnt frame of what used to be a marvelous, crumbling building.

It felt unsettling to be back.

He wanted to leave.

They were supposed to be looking for some plant, the paper described it as a long stalk with leaves that had jagged edges.
