I woke up in bed in my room, still wearing my clothes from the day before and not understanding what had happened.
Why wasn't I in Faustina's room?
It took me a few minutes to remember the events of the previous night, how the lycan had laid down on the floor with me on his chest and how I fell victim to sleep after he calmed down.
Almec must have shifted back sometime during the night and he put me on the bed, I thought, standing up.
We were right, my wolf sang in my head.
I laughed a little as I remembered our wonderful discovery. The lycan had more inside him than anger and violence. Similar to the rest of our wolves he could feel like any human being, only that his unfortunate life led him to only focus on destruction.
Now we just have to convince Almec, my wolf told me.
As if that were easy, I answered, grabbing my cell phone.
"Shit. I forgot about Myra," I cursed when I saw that I had six messages from my friend.
In all of them she asked me what time I was expecting her at the mansion to have tea as we had arranged the previous afternoon.
I quickly sent her an apology, confirming the time, and then I ran to the bathroom to prepare to receive her.
Demian and Khalia were my saving grace as usual. It took them less than an hour to prepare a table in the garden with delicious food and they even brought out the porcelain tea set for us.
"I thought you were never going to answer," Myra complained to me when I met her at the gate of the mansion. "And I closed my store today to come visit you."
"Your store is always closed on Sundays," I replied. "Do you want to see the inside of the mansion now or do you want to go directly to the garden to have tea?"
"Tea first, the mansion can wait."
Myra was so amazed by the beautiful garden full of roses and jasmine that she did not say a single word the entire way. That has to be a record for someone as chatty as her.
She couldn't stop smiling while I gave her a tour of the entire garden, paying special attention to the fountain and my favorite corner: the bench that Almec had built for me.
"I can't believe they even have a cemetery here." Myra sat down, placing the tea box she brought as a gift on the round table. "You really are lucky to live here."
"I still can't believe this is my house," I confessed, sitting in front of her. "Faustina, on the other hand, is more than used to it."
"I don't understand how someone who lives in this mansion can be so bitter all the time like Almec. Today I saw him in town and it seemed to me that he was about to kill someone."
"He was angry?" I asked her, pouring tea.
"That would be an understatement," she replied before taking a sip of her tea. "I'm telling you, he looked like he was going to kill someone, he looked at everyone with contempt and I swear I almost ran in the opposite direction."
"I thought he'd be in a better mood today," I commented, shrugging.
"He'd be better, why?" Myra wiggled her eyebrows. "Don't tell me they made peace last night if you know what I mean."
"No, nothing happened last night," I answered quickly.
"A shame. Maybe a good fuck is what he needs. You won't lose anything by trying."
