*Friend Group House: Before Shift*
Benny was over at the stove, cooking some food, when he suddenly glanced over his shoulder and caught sight of a certain people descending the stairs.
"Hey." he greeted.
"Morning." Kelly returned while I was too busy yawning to give a replied.
"Morning." Tim returned
"Good Morning. We got scrapple and we got eggs. Grab a seat." The elder Severide offered, handing each of them a plate. "There you go."
"Thanks." We coursed.
Jackson Avery and April Kepner comes down. "Have any of you guys hear about Halstead coming back?" Jackson asked.
"Which Halstead?" Alex says, as he had a full mouth of breakfast.
"Jay." Jackson asked. "What does the calendar say?" I asked, as I take a bit of my breakfast.
"It says in about a couple of weeks so seven weeks." Callie says, then Sofia started crying.
"I got her." Mark says, as he quickly raced up stairs.
"it's gotta be soon. I thought it was 5 weeks?" Alex says, as I quickly check my calendar.
"It's 6 weeks." I replied. "Whoa, it's flying by fast!" Vic says
"Will probably have to spend one more shift at the house. Kind of re-familiarize myself with a couple of things." Benny brought a mug of coffee up to his lips and sipped at it. "So why don't you tell Boden I'll be there about noon."
"What the Hell's going on with you and Boden?" Travis suddenly asked.
"Look, Wally and I go way back. You know, he and I, one minute we're at each other's throats and the next I'm helping to put a new deck on his house." Benny shrugged and his son nodded in response. "Okay? This is nothing new. Look, I promise you, I'll be a choir boy, okay? A mute choir boy."
*At a Fire Scene: A Few Hours Later*
"Keep that two and half on the roof line." Lucas ordered from Y/N's left, "I don't want a flare-up spreading to the other buildings."
The captain had been silently watching her fellow friend group, waiting for command or to see if she was needed. Her gaze suddenly snapped to the right, as her older brother voice reacher her ears.
"Oh, hey, sir, sir!" Kelly called, stoping an elderly man from towards the building. "You're gonna want to stand back, okay?"
"It's mine restaurant, are-- are- are my employees safe?" He wondered, stuttering a bit.
The Lieutenant's eyes scan the area then looked at me and I merely activated my radio.
"Herrera, Casey, can we have a search status please?" I radioed.
"Building's clear, just opening up the celling." Matt reported.
"Building was empty, your people are out." Kelly assured, turning back to the elderly man who looked more upset now than worried.
"Son of a Bitch said I'd pay, I never thought he'd go this far."
"Yeah." The Lieutenant inquired.
"Ten year without a grease fire. I open for restaurants in the union, suddenly he sees money. I refused to sign. This send this thug!" He spat.
"Sounds like you're gonna want to talk to CPD." Dean pointed out.
"What good would that do? This guy's not gonna stop until I'm ruined or dead." The elderly man muttered, shaking his head agian.
He walked over to a woman standing by one of the rigs. She looked to be about his age and the firefighters couldn't help but assume that it was his wife.
"Okay, Chief, we're almost done. Send in the engine for the wash down." Matt radioed, unkowningly breaking the friend group captain out of her thoughts.
The older man was just about to respond when Joe and Evan suddenly came crashing through a nearby window with a flaming Truck Lieutenant in their arms.
"MATTY!!!" I shrieked, racing over and beginning to pat out the flames surrounding his body.
"Hit him with the hose!!" Lucas ordered the Engine guys next to him.
"Come on!!" Buck and Joe urged, helping Y/N.
Matt stayed on his stomach, head down and didn't move an inch.
After a few minutes, Matt was safety put out. Joe sat back and removed his mask.
"Lieutenant!!" Joe and Buck cried out.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Matt shifted and remove his masked.
"I'm okay. I'm okay." The truck Lieutenant turned to the brunette sitting behind him. "I'm fine." He assured, facing Joe and Buck once more and patting their shoulder. "Thanks, Buck and Cruz."
We helped Matt up and over to Ambulance 61. As the paramedics checked him over.
We found out that he was fine.
