it had been a long day for star and ddot. after spending hours in the studio working on their new track, they finally decided to call it a night. they headed back to ddot's place, exhausted but content, looking forward to some well-deserved rest.
as they got ready for bed, star felt a familiar cramp in her lower abdomen. she knew what it meant, and it wasn't exactly the best timing. she'd just started her period, and it was heavier than usual. trying to ignore the discomfort, she slipped into bed beside ddot, hoping the pain would subside enough to let her sleep.
but as they lay there, ddot's arms wrapped around her, star felt a horrible realization. she had leaked onto the bed sheets. her heart started racing as panic set in. memories of her previous relationship flooded her mind, where her ex-boyfriend would get irrationally angry whenever she had an accident like this. the thought of ddot being upset made her stomach twist even more.
she shifted slightly, trying to figure out what to do without waking him up, but ddot noticed her discomfort immediately.
"mami, you okay?" ddot asked, his voice groggy with sleep.
star hesitated, her voice small as she finally said, "i... i think i leaked on the sheets, d. i'm really sorry."
she braced herself for his reaction, but instead of getting angry or annoyed, ddot just propped himself up on one elbow, looking at her with concern.
"stop apologizin', star. it's natural, ain't nothin' to be sorry for," ddot said softly, his tone full of understanding.
"yeah but-" star started to say, but ddot cut her off gently.
"shhh, don't worry 'bout it, mamas. it's just a sheet. we can clean it up, no problem."
he got out of bed and turned on the light, inspecting the stain without a hint of disgust. instead, he quickly pulled the sheet off and bundled it up, tossing it into the laundry basket without a second thought. then, he grabbed a fresh sheet from the closet and began making the bed again.
star watched him in disbelief, feeling a wave of relief and gratitude wash over her. this was so different from what she was used to. "you really don't mind?" she asked, still feeling a bit insecure.
ddot paused and looked at her seriously. "mami, listen to me. it's just blood. you don't gotta feel bad or embarrassed 'bout this. i got you, always."
he came over and kissed her forehead, then disappeared into the bathroom for a moment. when he returned, he had a small box of pads and a bottle of water. "i found these in your bag, figured you might need 'em. you good, baby?"
star felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes, but they weren't tears of sadness. they were from how loved and cared for she felt. she nodded, taking a deep breath to calm herself. "thank you, d. you're amazing."
"nah, you're the amazing one for thuggin this out every month" he said with a smile, slipping back into bed beside her. he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. "now, let's get some sleep. i ain't lettin' no cramps or anything else mess with my girl's rest."
they fell asleep like that, star nestled in ddot's arms, feeling safer and more secure than she ever had before.
the next day, they went out to run some errands and grab lunch. star was feeling better, but still a bit self-conscious. she was wearing her favorite pair of light-colored jeans, trying to keep her mind off the possibility of leaking again. they were in a store, browsing through some clothes, when ddot noticed something.
"yo, star," he said quietly, stepping closer to her. "c'mere for a sec."
she looked at him curiously as he casually draped his arm around her waist, guiding her toward a mirror near the back of the store. leaning in close, he whispered in her ear, "you leaked a little. but don't trip, i got you."
before star could even react, ddot took off his hoodie and tied it around her waist, making sure it covered the back of her jeans completely. he did it so smoothly and casually that no one else in the store noticed a thing.
star's face turned red with embarrassment, but at the same time, she felt a surge of affection for him. "what would i do without you" she said, her voice filled with emotion.
ddot just smiled, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "told you, mami. i got you. ain't nothin' to stress about when you with me."
