My Dear Friend,

It is at least some solace to know that you too felt hollow upon your departure. Letting you get on that train was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made, and I often catch myself ruminating on that very thing.

But you are right, instead of this talk, we may be better served writing more gaily. Although, I must plainly state that I miss you dearly. Please do not forget that fact even as our correspondence diverges from that topic.

Now then, tell me about the 107th regiment; surely there are exciting goings on therein.

I can assure you that Brooklyn is the same bustling borough it has always been. Nothing of note has occurred that I feel you must know. It is quite torturously mundane, in fact.

Yours With Esteem,
Steven
