~ No Judgment
Kendra Potter gazed out of a thick glass window at the sliver of lighting sky far off in the distance. The orange glow was hardly noticeable as it hid behind the tops of the ominous trees below. But, Kendra was used to spending her morning up before the sun, searching for an inkling of its glow and waiting for its light to warm her face. The light-haired girl was situated on a cushion of a window bench in the Gryffindor common room. Her knees were pulled loosely to her chest and her head rested against the cool stone walling that framed the glass.
The flames that had glowed in the late night had been put out many hours ago and had since been reduced to nothing more than smoke and ash. The only light that ventured into the common room was the fragment of sunlight that had hardly begun to light the sky.
The window Kendra sat at was across the room from the backside of the talking painting which, even though Remus had tried to explain, still confused her.
Poor Remus.
The kind boy had given Kendra a tour of Hogwarts Castle yesterday while the rest of the students were having fun and catching up. He had said that it was fine of course, but behind Remus's eyes Kendra saw his longing to be with his friends.
Nevertheless, it was a great tour. Plus, an added bonus, was that now Kendra felt as though she knew Remus just as well as James and Sirius.
During their time spent together at Potter Manor, she had realized that the wolfish boy was just as shy as she was. The two did enjoy each other's company but were slower to get on.
While touring the castle Kendra learned that Remus loved chocolate and reading, which were two things she enjoyed very much as well. He had shared a small square with her as they walked through the corridors and she nibbled on it slowly to savor the taste and hopefully keep her touchy stomach at bay.
They talked about books most of the time after that. The tall boy rambled off different titles she had never heard before, telling her they were classics. When he asked what books she had read and she responded with a list of textbooks he didn't make her feel odd. He just asked her what was her favorite and told her his.
When they had finally finished exploring the castle and made it to the common room, Kendra was half-tackled by two overly enthusiastic boys. It was James and Sirius of course.
They apparently had been anxiously waiting to introduce their sister to their only female friends, Marlene, Dorcas, and Lily. Three very kind girls that smiled brightly at Kendra, who saw the excitement of having a new friend behind their eyes.
Lily was a beautiful girl with bright green eyes. She had long fiery-red hair that was slightly wavy and sat at mid-back length. Like Kendra, she was pale but it only added to her beauty and she had light freckles scattered across her face.
On the other hand, Marlene was the complete opposite of Lily. She was a good four inches taller than her friend, standing at about 5'10". Her hair was just past shoulder length and was scrunched up in gorgeous loose curls. Marlene had tan skin and a cute cluster of freckles underneath her collarbone. She looked fit too. Her arms were toned and strong making her seem a bit more intimidating than she really was.
Lastly, was Dorcas, a friendly looking girl who was hardly an inch taller than Kendra. She stood next to Marlene who made her look like a dwarf in comparison. She had long beautiful dreadlocks that were charmed in a whimsical style and dark skin that was effortlessly blemish-less. Dorcas's face was round and her cheeks had a happy glow. Her whole aura radiated with something that put Kendra at ease.
"Kendra?"
Speak of the devil.
Kendra was pulled out of her thoughts by a very tired-looking Dorcas.
