Early in the morning, two guards chased Vex, Vax, and Cole through the streets of Emon.
Guard: Stop!
The three made a quick turn left into an alleyway.
Cole: Thank Gog, we lost them. *To Vax* Do we have to go to Gilmore's while you guys, being fugitives with me now being associated with you?
Vax: We need weapons to take care of that vampire and his wife, and Gilmore's is the only shop we can get some without being seen since it's closed.
Cole: Are you sure it isn't just an excuse for flirting with him?
Vax ignores his question and turns but quickly notices two more guards blocking the path and backs up.
Guard: Where'd they go?
Vex, Vax, and Cole hide behind a corner before passing the guards. One of the guards noticed them.
Guard: Over here! Come on!
They quickly chase after them, but when they reach the alleyway, they don't see them. The three finally make it to Gilmore's shop, but they stop at the side of the shop and kneel to see a way in, but it is blocked by bars. Vex tries to pull it out. She, Vax, and Cole look to the street to see if any guards coming.
Cole: KeyKey, you're up.
Keyleth appears in the form of a squirrel under Cole's hoodie, climbs down off the mutant, and jumps through the bars easily. She turns back to normal and opens the bars by pulling from the other side. They quickly enter the basement of the shop before the guards arrive at the scene looking for them.
Guard: Come on! They can't be far!
The guards begin to leave the area. In the Gilmore's Shop, where the lights are out, a trapdoor opens for them to walk out.
Cole: *whisper* We're good.
They then begin to look at the shop while being stealthy.
Keyleth: Oh, man, being bad is so exciting.
Cole: Well–
Suddenly, a magic cage is underneath them, slowly lifting them up as the light turns on. They hear someone clearing their throat, and they turn to see Gilmore.
Gilmore: *Winces* Ooh, crime doesn't pay, *smiles* but it is entertaining.
The three look at Gilmore a bit embarrassed.
Cole: Fuck.
Gilmore arrives on the first floor and snaps his finger to make the cage disappear. The four land on the floor on top of each other. They piled on Cole and they all groaned in pain.
Cole: Why am I a cusion for this?
Keyleth stands up and looks at Gilmore nervously.
Keyleth: We weren't breaking in or anything, just you, sort of on the run.
Vax, Vex, and Cole get up from the floor and Vax looks at Gilmore.
Vax: A quick stop at your store on our way out of town.
Gilmore: While it was closed. I assume you were going to leave an "IOU"?
Everyone looks away from Gilmore avoiding answering.
Vex: Of course, darling. *Her, Vax, Cole, and Keyleth walk past Gilmore* You know us.
Gilmore: *Chuckles* All too well.
