Chapter Two

Six Years Later

While Wade is at work, I've been busy busting my ass all day trying to get everything ready for tonight. See, today is Wade's birthday, he's had it rough recently so I decided to get a little surprise party set up for him. It's the least I could do for him, he's my best friend. As much as he drives me up the wall sometimes, I want to see him happy even if it is for a short time. I invited everyone I could think of. Ellie, Buck, Rusty, Colossus, Blind AL (of course), Yukio, Dopinder, Peter (obviously), aaaaand Vanessa.
I don't necessarily want Vanessa here, but I know Wade would like to see her so I invited her. I have a slight thing against her. I mean Wade, went to the ends of the universe to bring her back to life, and she has the audacity to ask him to show her he cares about something "bigger than him"?! ooook. THEN, she leaves him?!
Bitch, you're lucky you get to see another day on this god forsaken earth. She broke his heart, and I'll never forgive her for that. She didn't have to deal with Wade like I did, the poor guy never left the bed and if he did, it was to the couch. He gave up his passion: fucking people up for money.
Worst of all? He went into SALES....He was at the lowest point I think I've ever seen him in, and he's been through some shit. I mean he watched nearly his entire team, X-Force, die right before his eyes. He brushed it off surprisingly well.
Part of me hopes he and Vanessa will rekindle their romance tonight, and she can see the mistake she made in losing such an amazing guy.
I hear a knock at the door, I walk over grabbing the door handle, opening it to find Ellie, Yukio, Dopinder, and Colossus. I step aside welcoming them in, and point over to the gift table. We catch up and reminisce about our adventures with Wade, how stupid and unapologetically annoying he can be.
More people slowly show, but no Vanessa, it wouldn't be the worst if she didn't show up, but imagining the disappointment on Wade's face if he walked in here and didn't see her, would be really upsetting. I give her a call, as I do so she walks through the door.
We've got about ten minutes until Wade gets home from work. I'm finishing up some final things, making sure everything is perfect. I looked over at the gift table, it was full. I smile slightly seeing how much he's loved by his friends, and how everyone showed up to celebrate him.

Wade POV:

Wade and Peter are bicycling on the sidewalk right below the apartment.

"I'm just saying, once a month, we could go on a little mission. We're human beings, we crave purpose.  After all, we're Deadpool." Peter says to me as we are coming to a stop.

"Please stop saying that. We're not Deadpool. I'm not even Deadpool anymore." I respond in annoyance.

Peter hops off his bike and continues,

"Well, if you're going to have a midlife crisis, go big. A few years ago, a friend of mine got his nipples pierced with a titanium chain that goes down and attached to his Van Johnson." He giggles slightly.

The sound of a camera clicking is heard, I turn and notice a subway station with construction workers around the entrance.

"Are you feeling grumplestiltskin because it's your birthday?" Peter interrupts my thoughts.

Not taking my eyes off the workers I say to Peter,

"What? No.......No." I take one last look at the station before walking away with Peter.

Y/n POV:

The two of them enter the apartment to find every one of their friends in the apartment.
We all yell "SURRRPRIIIISE!" Wade's eyes go big, he starts to laugh,

"All right, you guys are lucky I'm not armed!" Deadpool calls out, as everyone surrounds him for a hug.

"Get in here. If this was six years ago, you'd all be dead." he says "jokingly".
