Magnolia's body laid limp under the covers, she ignored the burning of her body and the way her bladder ached to be emptied. She simply couldn't get out of bed.
For a long time, she thought that her emotions towards her father has disappeared and she had grown up more maturely, to not be dwelling on the pain of her father's actions that harmed her and those around her. She had thought she'd gotten over all of that shit.
She craved to check on her other family members in America, to check up on those in England too. She wanted someone to tell her she's not crazy for missing a man that caused such trauma. She wanted to feel more alive at the fact that all her emotions were valid and that what she went through wasn't normal — to any regular person, it wasn't normal, but she had never been surrounded by normal people. She barely spoke to Alexis about such topics because she herself had a terrible home life and never wanted to speak on it, which she respected. Kian grew up in the Mafia also, but he didn't know about her extent of growing up in one so she couldn't confide in him.
For some reason, she felt like Renata would be the only one to understand such a situation but the thought of even talking or ever seeing the psycho woman made her want to throw up. She was not going to talk to her boss about the Mafia, especially when she leads one.
A knock at the door broke her running thoughts, the door knob twisted but she had locked it so they couldn't open it.
"Lia? It's Kian, listen, I'm worried okay? Please, come out and talk to me, it's been days and I know you've barely eaten. You've missed work too, this isn't like you sweetie," Nothing but concern dripped from his sweet words, his face on the other side of the door expressed worry. "I'm here for you, and I will be until the day we die."
How can she tell him what's on her mind without making herself seem like a threat?
Now at this point though, she had enough and got out of bed, ignoring the numb feeling in her legs with getting up quickly and lack of movement over the past couple of days. She unlocked the door and opened it, before she could say anything, a pair of muscular arms wrapped around her and she was pushed into a hard chest. She inhaled and smiled at Kians familiar smell — one she found comfort in the darkest of times like this.
They said nothing as they hugged each other. It was silent as the minutes slipped past them, Kians hand rubbing up and down her back and Magnolia balling up his shirt fabric in her grip, snuggling deeper into him.
She pulled away, wiping away some tears that slipped down. A smile was all she gave him, "I'll go change, get ready for work, but can we stop by the special place first?"
Kian restrained showing the shock he felt in the inside and only gave her a small nod. She grinned and rushed to the toilet, doing her business and having a brisk shower, at moments like that she was glad she had laser hair removal as she didn't have to spend a copious amount of time on shaving everywhere. After that she layered body lotion, putting on fresh underwear and joggers with a tank top, going against the idea for a bra — she grabbed some sexy lingerie for her shift tonight and packed some shoes in a bag.
