KGOMOTSO

And how is he going to pull this off? Honestly, I don't see his plan working out. Fetching me at night? While there are lights and cameras outside? Yoh, Simphiwe can be crazy sometimes. He even said that I should jump out the gate when he parks outside. This morning he took the car that he parked. I don't know how he did it. Maybe it's with the help of Scholtz or money. Money can make the world go round, never forget that.

"Announcement: Can Kgomotso Mashaba report to Mr Scholtz's office, please. Kgomotso Mashaba."

Me? This is my first time being called anywhere. And why Scholtz? I stand up and leave the classroom because what else can I do?

__________

I open the door and I find Mr Scholtz sitting on his desk with Simphiwe standing next to him holding a plastic bag from some boutique. I didn't even know he was here.
Isn't he supposed to be preparing for today since it's 1PM already? He isn't wearing his beanie like he always does and his hair looks like he hasn't brushed it in days. It's so bad and I think he knows it too.

Kgomotso: "Good day, sir."

Scholtz: "Good day Motso."

Yeah, he knows me, and it's all because of Mr next to him and he's really been treating me well. He calls me Motso, well, that's because I said he could. My girls and I come to him for guidance when we're confused during Bible study. When I was told he was pastor in Grade 8, I knew I couldn't miss the opportunity to get guidance on my Bible study. I was scared to even approach him at first, but I around June two years ago, that's when Simphiwe introduced me to him. I was shy at first, but then him and I would go to his office for our Bible study and I started getting comfortable. I know that Simphiwe and Scholtz have a special relationship regardless of their racial difference.
Yes, I said it.
Though I've never mentioned them, but I've had a few instances that were racial. I'm gonna tell the truth like it is; this school is racist. Don't be fooled by the amount of rich black kids here. Racism still lurks in these corners.

Anyway, Simphiwe and Scholtz have a very special father-son relationship and sometimes it makes me cry seeing the way they embrace each other. Especially now that my baby is leaving. They hug a lot. It's like they're actually father and son. No, they are! I say this because I know Scholtz doesn't have a child of his own and when Simphiwe was still young, his father never really gave him attention he needed from his father so I guess it's what brought them close in a way. I'm also glad Scholtz was the one who taught him about Jesus Christ. I'm also sure it's what got them even more closer.

Kgomotso: "What am I doing here?" My question still stands.

Simphiwe: "Well..." He says walking to me and handing me the plastic bag.

I gasp once I see the label on the dress.

Kgomotso: "Dolce & Gabbana?! How?"

Scholtz: "Money."

Most days I forget that Simphiwe is rich.

Kgomotso: "Clearly!" They both laugh.

I can't believe it! It's a beautiful red silky mermaid dress. But Dolce & Gabbana? For me? Who would've thought?

Woah! Wait a minute!
And he wants me to jump out the gate with this dress? This dress will get ruined! Simphiwe though! Does he think sometimes?

Scholtz: "And while you're at it, by 21:30 tonight I want you here. From there on, Draco will fetch you."

Kgomotso: "Okay." That's all I say.

I want to ask questions, but I'm too happy to. I guess I won't have to jump that gate after all.
