Fenix spent thirty minutes soaking his feet in the cool water of the pond, replenishing his energy bar. He had only played for about six in-game hours, so his energy was only halfway depleted.
As he relaxed, he realized that once he left the beginner town, he would need to find a region near water to settle in. Lucky for him, he already knew of two such regions that were both highly populated and near water; he just needed to decide which one would suit his needs more.
Suddenly, a splash interrupted Fenix's thoughts. It was ChibiSlacker, who had been trying to catch a fish during their time at the pond. When asked why, all ChibiSlacker would say was that a fish had wronged him once - whatever that meant. Despite Fenix's attempts to explain that the fishing skill was required to do so, ChibiSlacker didn't listen.
Fenix checked the time and saw that it was nearly 1 am, and dawn would soon break. In the online world of Haven, nighttime only lasts for three hours: from 10 pm to 1 am. This design was intentional, as the creators wanted to give players extra bonuses during these hours. Along with a 2x experience boost, there were also bonuses for coins and items dropped by monsters.
However, the creators were smart enough to limit the duration of the night to prevent rankers from dominating the economy with the increased earnings and items they would get if the nights were longer.
Fenix couldn't help but wonder why they even included this feature, but he supposed it gave those looking to make quick coins a chance. While he waited, Fenix finally decided to use his 12 points on his stats. He couldn't fight a spider with level-one stats.
With that in mind, he opened his profile tab.

After some thought, he knew where he wanted to put them.

Once that was set he opened the package given to him by Macaroon's mother before he left the restaurant. As he tore open the wrapping, notifications began to appear on his screen.
[System: You have received a Flower Silverware set!]
[System: You have received Spaghetti and Meatballs & Hippie Juice recipes!]
[System: You have received 3 packets of seeds!]
Fenix opened his inventory, curious about the silverware set. Instead of a traditional fork and knife, he found two oversized utensils that looked more like weapons than dining tools. They were as long as swords and could be dual-wielded. Though their stats were decent, the items were identical in power, yet uniquely bizarre.
Giant Flower Pattern Fork
[Base Stats]
Damage: 15-20
Injury Rate: 0%-1%
Critical: 25%
Stun Rate: 10%
Durability: 10/10
NPC Value: 15 silver coins
Other Information: A giant fork. It does more psychological damage than physical damage.
Giant Flower Pattern Knife
[Base Stats]
Damage: 15-22
Injury Rate: 0%-5%
Critical: 15%
Stun Rate: 8%
Durability: 10/10
NPC Value: 15 silver coins
Other Information: A knife that is too big to be used for dining. If hit by it, you may sustain more psychological damage than physical damage.
Fenix chuckled as he examined the absurdly large utensils. He couldn't help but appreciate the humor behind the design. The intricate flower patterns etched into the handles added a whimsical touch, making the weapons both intimidating and ridiculous. It was clear that whoever crafted these had a unique sense of humor.
Despite their comical appearance, they had respectable stats. The fork's high critical rate and stun potential made it a surprisingly effective weapon, while the knife's slightly higher damage and injury rate added a bit more punch.
As he thought about it, Fenix realized how lucky he was to have received the utensils. He hadn't even noticed that he was weaponless until now and almost smacked himself in the head for being such an idiot. How had he planned to defeat the spider without a weapon? He brushed it off as having too much on his mind.
Normally, a player received a beginner sword by completing the mayor's quest, which involved meeting various NPCs around town. At the end, they would get a sword and some coins for their trouble. But since he didn't take the traditional route in the game he didn't get it. He had intended to buy his own weapon after finishing the restaurant quest but had gotten sidetracked.
Shaking his head, he opened his cookbook tab and checked out his new recipes. His first impression was that they were pretty good. The Hippie Juice gave a buff of +10 HP, +3 Str, and +5 Dex, and the Spaghetti and Meatballs gave a buff of +24 HP and +30 MP, which would last for 30 minutes. It didn't say how much hunger it restored, but Fenix knew that information wouldn't come until after the update.
The seeds, on the other hand, were just three packets full of 10 apple, strawberry, and cherry seeds respectively. Fenix wouldn't be able to use them until he had enough coins to buy a plot of land, but if he made enough coins soon, he could buy one cheaply.
Ten minutes later, the sun had risen, casting a warm glow over the landscape. Fenix glanced over at ChibiSlacker, who approached him with dripping clothes and an intense pout.
"So, I couldn't catch a fish," ChibiSlacker muttered, shaking the water off himself like a bedraggled puppy.
Fenix chuckled softly. "I did warn you about that earlier."
Annoyed, ChibiSlacker huffed, "Are you done recharging now? Can we finally go kill that spider?"
"Yup," Fenix drawled, stretching out the word. "Let's go."

Following the map given to them by the old man, the two boys made their way towards the cave. Fenix was surprised to find that the location was not as far from town as he had anticipated. It did take them an hour to get there though, but that was only because they had to bypass all the monsters on the way.
As they approached the cave, their eyes widened in awe at the sight before them. The cave was a dazzling shade of crystal blue, and its walls pulsated with what could only be magical energy. ChibiSlacker turned to Fenix with excitement written across his face.
The two boys exchanged glances, and as if reading each other's minds, they simultaneously reached for their weapons.
"Are you ready for this?" Fenix asked, tightening his grip on his oversized fork and knife.
With a bright smile, ChibiSlacker said, "More than ready."
Without further ado, they stepped into the cave, their hearts pounding with anticipation.
