Mina had long forgotten how serene the gardens were in the ministry

Mina had long forgotten how serene the gardens were in the ministry. Some would've called it their personal Garden of Eden. Primo was extremely attentive when it came every detail. After death, Mountain had taken ownership to assure the garden stayed immaculate. Mina felt at peace curled up underneath the Baphomet statue resting on her blanket with a book in hand. The crisp Fall air winding through her loose hair, Mina chose to forgo her uniform that morning abandoning the usual habit for a black summer dress.

The crunching of the beautifully colored leaves distracted her from the words on the page. Mina grateful that it was just Phantom taking a seat beside her. He weaved his arm around her waist pulling her against him, the peaceful silence winding around them. Sometimes words really weren't needed as Mina came to find out these few weeks.

Her attention slowly going back to the book as Phantom ran his claws through her hair. You could hear some of the congregation talking amongst themselves while passing through. Some of the sisters finding interest in the pair hoping to catch the ghouls attention. They'd scoff as they realized their advances failed per usual.

"You could at least say hi to them." Mina remarked turning the page in her book. Phantom held zero interest in what the congregation wanted with him unlike Dew. Sometimes it felt as if the humans here wanted to own him. Or they felt he owed them for allowing him to be apart of the clergy. Phantom was grateful that he had Mina, not just as a mate but as someone who saw him differently.

"Do you want me to give them attention?" Phantom asked. Mina knew this was his idea of pulling some hint of jealously out of her. She listened to his purrs as he nestled into her neck while tightening his grip on her waist.

"I know what you're trying to do, Phantom." Mina giggled while turning towards him. He softly kissed her lips before plucking a flower from the bush and slipping it behind her ear. A sweet smile appearing on her face as he continued his actions. For each kiss was another flower added to her hair.

"You're very gentle for a ghoul." Mina remarked. Some had reservations on whether ghouls were capable of such strong feelings. Certainly they became obsessive during their heat but it was more so a means to an end. All ghouls were fated to be with another ghoul, not a human unless there were rare circumstances. Mina hadn't come across any research pertaining to their bond. Her curiosity for knowing if Phantom would loose interest still waining in the back of her mind.

"You are the reason for my existence, Mina." Phantom admired how ethereal his mate looked with the flowers intertwined in her hair. She was so delicate, so untainted by the harsh realities of the ministry. Father DeFroque was attempting to sink his claws into her for his own gain and it was sickening him.

Mina could sense the adoration that Phantom held for her in every touch and look he gave. His devotion so incredibly strong that it often times blew her away. Since receiving his mark, Mina could feel it. The universe guiding him to her side solidifying their bond, it was impossible to ignore. She was truly surprised that she had withheld herself from him for so long.

"I love you." Mina blushed a brilliant shade of red as the words fell from her lips. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that what she felt was love for him. She would've gone to the ends of the world if it meant being by his side. Phantom leaned his forehead against Mina while gently cradling the sides of her face.

"I love you, Mina. I've waited centuries for you and you're more perfect than I could've imagined." Phantom always knew his mate was out there for him. What he hadn't expected was just how perfect Mina was for him. Lucifer always knew what his children needed and Phantom couldn't have been more grateful to his master.

"I'm sorry I gave you such a hard time." Mina cursed herself for being so entangled in her duties. Sometimes the most obvious things went unnoticed by her around the congregation. Phantom hadn't given up in the slightest with her and she kept pushing him away repeatedly.

"I knew you'd give in eventually, babygirl." Phantom would've assumed much sooner but couldn't complain. Both of them becoming quickly lost in each other as the time ticked away. Mina softly reading the words off the page to Phantom as he cradled her in his arms underneath the Baphomet statue. In the near distance stood Father DeFroque who looked onto the couple with disgust.

Father DeFroque's plans quickly unraveling before him because Mina simply  just wouldn't listen to him. Such a brilliant mind tainted by the depraved nature of a creature from Hell. She had always followed the rules set before her and now she had become a ghoul's whore. His desire for power and owning her growing as he looked on. Father DeFroque had always had a desire to take what wasn't his after becoming bored with his duties to the church. Sister Mina would be an excellent choice to get what he truly wanted.

He was determined to overtake the ministry one way or another. Mina could be his ticket to magic that was beyond his control, she just needed to be nudged in the right direction. And then he could take ownership of her after getting rid of her new plaything. Father DeFroque just had to manipulate the situation once more to his liking. After all Mina was very easily persuaded into believing the ghoul wanted nothing to do with her. If he just amped it up a notch, he was certain that she'd come running to him.

As long as it meant not having to watch her eyes shine with devotion to that ghoul then he'd be happy. It was starting to make him absolutely sick at just how much she seemed to love Phantom. Father DeFroque hid behind the pillar as Sister Mina glanced up sensing a more sinister presence in the garden. Phantom diverting her attention back to him as he pulled her into his lap and placing a kiss where her mark was.

Mina tried to push down the ominous feeling preferring to curl up into Phantom's embrace. There was absolutely no reason to panic, right?
