It had been ages since the ministry had welcomed a visitor especially one of decent importance. There had been an announcement after the midnight ritual that Father DeFroque would be making a 'surprise' visit. Honestly, not many of the congregation seemed thrilled by the prospect. He came off as pretentious which irritated the Hell out Mina who usually left the room if his sermons were being played.
Mina couldn't exactly play off taking a bit more time to get ready on his arrival. Dew would most definitely call her out once seeing the slight curl in her hair and red lipstick. And it had taken ages to convince herself to just let it go and maybe they wouldn't notice. What she didn't want was Phantom making a fuss over it. But there was definitely no way he wouldn't.
There was no doubt he was already waiting outside the door so she couldn't gather the courage or come up with a good excuse. Deep down, Mina knew that it was a pathetic attempt to impress him. The facade of just ignoring her growing feelings was starting to not work. Slowly she was starting to unwind and there was no telling when she'd give in. The constant struggle of trying to ignore how the universe was pulling him to her was getting tiring.
Mina took a deep breath while attempting to mask how she truly was feeling in that moment; very anxious. Per usual, Phantom was leaned against the corridor wall observing typical behaviors within the clergy. He usually picked up on the habits from the couples in the congregation. Phantom had begun to notice that Mina was more receptive to human customs in trying to begin the mating process. It still seemed like she was oblivious much to his dismay. But Phantom knew that eventually Mina would feel how he did and that was worth the trouble.
The bundles of nerves tightened in her stomach as Phantom titled his head once she came in view. Instantly Mina felt nauseous with the thought that maybe he didn't like how she looked. Her flight instinct kicking in as she motioned to run back into her room until he reached out for her wrist. Phantom nervously holding out the small bundle of flowers he chose from Papa's garden.
"Vides ut deam." Phantom whispered. He didn't really know what the feeling of being nervous was but this seemed fitting. Mina never ceased to amaze him even in the smallest moments. He truly couldn't believe that this was his human.
"Thank you, Phantom." Mina felt speechless. It truly amazed her that Phantom was picking up on human customs when he didn't have to. Especially when she didn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things. A soft gasp fell from her lips once noticing the multiple cuts on his hands from the thorns. Mina gently grabbed his hand before pulling him into her room without much of a thought but him being possibly hurt.
"All I needed to do was give you flowers to get in your bedroom?" Phantom teased. Mina sent him a glare while placing the flowers on the nightstand. She guided him to sit at the end of the bed before walking into the bathroom to grab the first aid kit.
Phantom took the time to glance around the room trying to memorize even the smallest of details. There were a few photographs of Dew with Mina scattered around the room that he found himself glaring at. Mina didn't have much personal belongings it seemed other than books, a vanity that held her cosmetics and the black canopy bed.
