Father DeFroque was becoming a plague within the ministry, a disease that spread like wildfire

Father DeFroque was becoming a plague within the ministry, a disease that spread like wildfire. Every corner that Mina turned, there he was watching with spite pretending to listen to a clergy member. Somehow he knew where she'd be at every hour but hadn't made an approach since the last midnight ritual. But it was bound to happen, the obvious disgust on his face was provoking Phantom. Plus Dew could only keep his mouth shut for very long.

Mina was making a valiant effort in trying to keep the peace or at least some spark of hope that things would blow over. Even if it meant sacrificing her very comfort in the ministry on a daily basis. She had even made attempts to pretend that Father DeFroque wasn't even there, just a whisper in the halls. It worked for a good solid week before Dew had a hissy fit in the middle of the corridor,

Phantom was legit at his breaking point but was maintaining his promise to his mate to keep things civil. Unless Father DeFroque was less than civil but he couldn't result to violence. Mina hardly believed that it would reach that point, Father DeFroque may be an irritating individual but he wasn't exactly violent. The only exception being during the midnight ritual when he'd been a little too handsy. Perhaps Mina was being a bit optimistic.

Sister Seraphina had requested that Phantom be at rehearsals by himself so he'd focus more on the task at hand. Mina couldn't help but oblige due to the sister's intimidating nature. Plus it would be nice to simply wander the library and further her knowledge. As much as she would've loved to watch her mate perform, it was nice to just collapse in the cushioned chair with another ritual handbook.

At least that was until Father DeFroque presence loomed behind the chair taking a keen interest in her reading material. Mina tried focusing on the words on the page until the man cleared his throat, slowly walking around the chair to stand before her. Father DeFroque appeared deep in thought as Mina nervously tucked herself deeper into the chair.

"Have you ever craved power, Sister Mina?" He inquired. Mina took a deep breath gathering her thoughts while slowly closing the book. He seemed prideful that she was taking interest in his conversation rather than ignore him.

"Not in the slightest, Father. What do you want exactly?" Mina was growing exhausted of his constantly probing at getting information. It's like she couldn't shake him off much like an annoying gnat in the summer while in the gardens.

"Not much for conversation these days, are you?" Father DeFroque sneered. His patience was growing thin everyday watching the women. How she carelessly walked around with that ghoul, eyes gleaming with adoration and it was making him further agitated.

"I told you before that I couldn't help you. All I know is summoning magic, I have no interest in whatever magic you're seeking." Mina thumbed through the book trying to appear uncaring. She could feel her body shaking with nervousness at his attempts at confronting her.

"I don't care that you have no interest. I can just make you do it, I don't need your permission." Father DeFroque slammed his hands down on the arm rest of the chair. The book fell with a resounding thud in the library as Mina jumped.

"You're absolutely insane." Mina whispered. Father DeFroque cracked a smile at that before barking with laughter. She attempted to slip away from the chair but yelped as his hands grabbed at her wrists caging her in.

"I can bend you to my will, all it takes is a simple ritual and you'll be mine to use." Father DeFroque hissed. Mina could feel the tears slipping down her face as his grip tightened on her wrists. Certainly it would leave marks in it's absence that she couldn't possibly explain to Phantom easily.

"Why do you want me so badly?" Mina felt fear as Father DeFroque harshly grabbed onto her face. He seemed absolutely mad, the clear evil resonating in his eyes that it frightened her. Living in a congregation that worshiped Lucifer, Mina never saw true evil until looking at Father DeFroque.

"I told you, Mina. You're so special, you waste your gifts on this ministry and I tried to help you. I gave you so many chances that now I think I'll just use you and toss you aside." Father DeFroque knew now that it wasn't worth chasing her, she'd just go crawling back to the ghoul. He could easily make her into his puppet and get what he truly wanted, power.

"I won't do it." Mina just hoped that she'd be able to get to Papa in time or even Sister Imperator. Someone was bound to be able to help other than her mate. It was just hoping that someone would believe her as it seemed Father DeFroque had a spell over the ministry.

"You won't have a choice. Don't worry, I'll give you a chance to say goodbye to him. And don't bother trying to warn the others, who's going to believe you?" Father DeFroque spat. His grip slowly loosening before stepping back to adjust his collar. Mina shrank into the chair, her arms raveling around her like a shield against him.

"Oh don't look so scared, you won't even know what's happening sweetheart. I'll make it as painless as possible." Father DeFroque harshly patted her on the top of her head before putting on his typical innocent mask for the ministry. Mina nervously glanced at the marks wrapped around her wrists and winced.

"He will come for you." Mina shouted as Father DeFroque slipped out of the library chuckling to himself at her naive promises. She tried focusing on the gentle sounds of nature outside but the fear kept consuming her every thought. What magic did Father DeFroque even know about? And just how long did she have until he made his move?

Mina slowly unraveled herself from the chair while gathering her thoughts. How did she somewhat calmly bring this up to Phantom? How did she prevent him from completely ripping him to shreds? Would Papa even possibly believe her because it sounded insane?

Not to mention, Mina had to deal with the bruises slowly forming on the inside of her wrists. Phantom didn't even take someone brushing against her lightly. It's not like you could easily come up with excuse with this one, Mina was certainly not creative enough to. She certainly couldn't blame it on being clumsy, the only one that could pass with that was Sister Amaryllis.

The best bet Mina had was talking to Papa or Sister Imperator and hoping for the absolute best. And she'd made sure to have a backup plan on how to make the story seem plausible in comparison to Father DeFroque's presence in the ministry. After all, who really took him seriously? His image was somewhat a joke to Mina at least but to some, he just seemed like an overly friendly man who was spreading the word of Satan. Mina took a deep breath gathering her thoughts before departing the library.

They'd believe her, they had to or else she was absolutely fucked.
